James Gunn on Why Lex Luthor Can't Tell Superman is Clark Kent

DC Studios co-CEO and Superman director James Gunn took to social media to answer a classic comic book question: How can a genius like Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) not see through Clark Kent's simple glasses disguise? Gunn explained that he is pulling directly from classic comic psychology to answer the question. Lex's failure to recognize Superman isn't a physical blind spot, but a psychological one. Because Lex's ego is so incredibly massive, he literally cannot comprehend the idea that a god-like being with ultimate power would ever voluntarily choose to live a mundane, subservient, and clumsy life as a farm boy reporter.
