James Gunn revealed on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast that he has a long-term vision for his Superman story that could potentially span a four-part movie saga.

While his current focus is on the first film, Superman, he has a broader, multi-film narrative in mind that would explore different aspects of the hero's life. Gunn clarified that this four-movie plan is contingent on the success of the first installment, but confirmed he is already writing the second movie.

The upcoming Superman film, which will launch the new DCU, is described as a "workplace origin story." It will not retell how he got his powers but will instead focus on Clark Kent's early days at the Daily Planet, with Superman already established. A central theme will be Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The movie stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as the primary villain, Lex Luthor, and will also introduce other DC heroes like The Authority.
