Earlier this week, the family of Cordale Handy filed a lawsuit against the St. Paul Police Department…..Their CHICAGO BASED attorney, ANDREW STROUTH, joins Jearlyn to discuss the suit, the past few years of unrest between the African American community and police, and what can be done going forward both in Chicago and the Twin Cities. The Ann Bancroft Foundation (ABF) is celebrating 20 years of helping girls reach their full potential as inspired by founder and world-renowned polar explorer Ann Bancroft. Since 1997, ABF has awarded an estimated $1.4 million to 3,900 Minnesota girls from age five through high school graduation—connecting them to mentors who provide guidance, encouragement and support at a critical time in their lives. The 2017 Anniversary Celebration will show case program alumnae and their mentors speaking about the life-changing effect of the foundation’s support. This year’s event will also feature several surprises along with live and silent auction opportunities, a cash bar and dinner via creative and gourmet food stations to round out this fun and inspiring evening. FOUNDATION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SARA FENLASON joins Jearlyn. Over shadowed by the anniversary of the anniversary of PRINCE, will be the celebration of EARTH DAY…..a time which we look at the way we use our natural resources. Minnesota’s Junior Senator is back in the state for a big event tomorrow….SENATOR AL FRANKEN joins Jearlyn to discuss his summit with more than 350 educators, business leaders, policy leaders, and students from across Minnesota, who will attend his “Advancing Career Pathways Summit” to highlight the innovative ways Minnesota schools are joining forces with local businesses to tackle the nation’s stubborn “skills gap,” and to give students a leg up on landing a good-paying job. He was one of PRINCE’s well known musical collaborators……TOMMY BARBARELLA was in the New Power Generation and had a long relationship with Prince. He looks back at his life, one year after his death, talks about performing next weekend at Paisley Park……his show he is working on for Orchestra Hall, and a review of Dessa’s performance there last night….all with Jearlyn!

Leslie moved to Minnesota in 2004 as a permanent resident and formed the Rocket Soul Choir with long time friend, Jason Wahl (The Skullcranes, Sawbones) and Minneapolis stalwart, Pete Boulger (Grande Machine, Dander, Church Of Cash).
