Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future.
With us this week is current writer of the flagship title X-Men, Jed MacKay! We dive into his prolific work on Black Cat, Avengers, Moon Knight, Nova and of course, our lovable X-Men.
We are treated to a preview of the upcoming crossover event DnX before we dive into a new segment we call THE SCOOP where Jed has to answer questions like:
- Which of this current team of X-Men is simply trying too hard?
- Is the resurrection linked disease actually just Astra pranking Magneto?
- When will we get "3K Was Right" shirts?
- Why is Glob Herman the obvious choice for president of the United States of America?
- Who is better in bed? Avengers era Beast or evil white Beast?
We look at Jed's birth month and year issue - Uncanny X-Men 175 - where Dark Phoenix has returned...or has she?
Also in this episode:
The insanity of American Thanksgiving
Kitty Pryde cosplays as Corsair
Professor X steals cable (TV not the kid)
Cyclops cries for his mommy and then does some math
Cyclops' great weakness is getting shot
All this plus we answer questions like "Is Mastermind redeemable?" and "Will Mr. Sinister join Cyclops’ X-Men team during Jed's run?"
What does any of this mean for Jed's future? Tune in to find out!
Also this week: a bonus interview with comic artist Phillip Sevy to discuss their new creator owner comic co-penned with another previous guest, Christie Porter, that is simply unbelievable!
Jed Mackay is a prolific and influential comic book writer best known for his expansive, character-rich work at Marvel. Rising to prominence with acclaimed runs on titles like Black Cat, Moon Knight, and Doctor Strange, MacKay has developed a reputation for blending high-concept superhero storytelling with sharp humor and strong emotional grounding.
He currently serves as the writer of flagship series including X-Men and Avengers, making him one of the rare creators to simultaneously helm both teams in the Marvel Universe—a distinction not seen since Roy Thomas. A chief architect of the “Age of Revelation” era of the X-books, Jed maintains a clear focus on character voice and team dynamics. Outside of Marvel, he has also written for publishers like Boom! Studios, including work on Magic: The Gathering, showcasing his range across genres and franchises.
He has recently been writing X-Men, Avengers, Moon Knight and even everyone’s former New Warrior turned army of one Nova: Centurion.
