October ends in the most poetic holiday of the autumn.  It's in Halloween and the day of the dead,  where we remember those who have passed into that other place. Our life of preparation in Summer's Time, where we work, play, and enjoy the life that we have, ends in a good harvest in the autumn, where the leaves fall from the tree before it goes into hibernation to sleep,  to rest, and maybe to dream,  but what dreams do trees have.  Do they dream of the past or future,  or maybe they just be.  Is this like our dream when we rest in the cold ground,  living in the spirit form.  Or is that just a dream of our time in the physical. Autumn continues here in the northeast of this country. We are also getting close to Halloween, so the vail between this world and the spirit world is thinner and because of this we can get a glimpse of the unseen world. We also know that the seen and unseen exist as one like two sides of the same coin. The poems in this podcast tell the story of the mystery between the seen and unseen that our destiny is based on embracing the real, which is neither the seen or unseen, but the coin. I wrote "Dead Like Me Again" at the start of the new millennium when podcasting was started. It's about a girl who even while she lived saw both sides of the same coin. I recently watched it again on Amazon Prime. We only got two seasons and a movie, but like poetry you can say much with few words. The second poem "The Crow" I wrote to tell of my spiritual journey and a small part of my beginning down the other path as Robert Frost wrote of in "The Road Not Taken". The third poem is "The Full Moon". I have thought that the full moon is magical and represents the creative spark that is within us all. I just like the poets of the past use this image in many of our poems because its image draws within us a type of knowing. I do think that many of us are waking up to a new reality. Autumn brings us shorter days and  longer shadows, which gets us to the Halloween season. We are captivated by this holiday and how it effects our psyche. As night gets longer, we wonder about the unseen reality. Even before the official beginnings of Halloween there was all souls or all saints day. This time of the approaching darkness of winter is where we start wondering about death because before Christmas this time was truly a dark and depressing time. I've written many poems about autumn over the years because it's the one season that captured my imagination.  How could it not, because of all the color, all of the changes happening at that time,  and all of the wisdom that time gives me. We are in Autumn. Those of us who have four seasons in their year understand the truth of this season. Autumn is about change. Some are afraid of change. Some embrace change. Change always happen. We try and live one way and sometimes we find we've traveled down the wrong path. But a path is a path. It's a direction, a choice. The real reason we choose to go down a path is to learn the lessons of that path. Once we learn the lessons of the current path, we can choose another path. True freedom is the choice, whether it comes out good or bad. What we learn on one path, we can use on another path. We are here to learn, gain in knowledge, and turn that knowledge into wisdom.
