Jeff Cavanaugh - Trust the Tape

As we continue watching the tape to get ready for the 2023 NFL Draft I'm up to 8 players at the cornerback spot that I have scouted and ranked.

I'll walk you through who they are, where they might be drafted and how many I'm comfortable with the Cowboys picking at #26 overall.

Players scouted here: Christian Gonzalez, Cam Smith, Devon Witherspoon, Kelee Ringo, Joey Porter Jr, Deonte Banks, Emmanuel Forbes, Clark Phillips III.

Warning: this is pulled from my youtube channel and without the video aspect I may not do a great job of explaining what we're looking at all the time.

If you follow this channel you probably know I do way too many mock draft because why not!?

This will be two different cracks at a 3 round mock draft for the Cowboys based on the players I've studied in the 2023 NFL Draft so far.

Disclaimer: I'm only about 35-40 players in to this thing. By next week that number will be more like 60-80 and I'll have a better handle on all the positions. But enjoy the mayhem!

Wanted to get some draft content to you guys today before I sneak a stream in in the next day or two. Names at WR that fit what the Cowboys need in their group? Let's start with TCU's Quentin Johnston and go from there. Can you pick a RB in the first round? The Bijan Robinson debate continues. Plus bigger need, WR or CB?

In this version of Scoutkast we'll of course be talking about the Cowboys draft and today's focus is on the pass rushers in the 2023 class.

It's a good group and I've got a couple of names I don't think are being talked about highly enough.

Let's spitball some Cowboys draft and offseason talk. I've got my eyes on a certain wide receiver that would fit what Mike McCarthy wants to do pretty darn well. Let's talk Michael Thomas.

Oh and it's me, the running back hater that wants Bijan Robinson to make it to the 26th pick so the Cowboys can scoop him up.

Welcome to the debut of whatever you'd like to call me talking NFL Draft with Dave Helman of Fox Sports. Trust the Tape? Plug & Play? Something or other.

Wide receivers to help CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.

Running backs to replace(?) Zeke and/or Tony Pollard.

All the things.

Everything that mattered in the Cowboys-Commanders game including:

I've got a fun chart showing just how good CeeDee Lamb has been in his first year as WR1 for the Dallas Cowboys. Plus tons of questions from you guys on:

Cowboys CB situation and how they sort that out.

Michael Gallup and Noah Brown struggles and what TY Hilton can bring.

Where is the pass rush? Where is anything good on defense?

Credit to Jacksonville and Trevor Lawrence.

A couple of notes coming out of the loss to the Jaguars including how to handle Micah Parsons, surviving at CB with injuries, status of LVE etc.

Cowboys and Odell Beckham are teetering on the brink and Jerry Jones and the team are up to their old tricks.

Also talk about Cowboys CB group and what to expect from Kelvin Joseph, stuff on Tyler and Tyron Smith, what else we're on the prowl for to improve the team and all sorts of questions from you guys!
