• A helicopter made an emergency landing overnight in the middle of a pier in South Philadelphia, right next to the SS United States on the Delaware River.

• More than eight months after first announcing plans to merge, Jefferson Health and the Lehigh Valley Health Network are forming a combined network employing more than 65,000 people in southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey.

• A man was shot and killed in his Jeep in North Philadelphia early Friday morning. Police said someone fired into the man’s SUV at least 10 times.
• The Phillies are out west hoping to get their season back on track.
