  • 2021 Grab-Bag: What We Expect in 2021

A Q&A podcast where Phil and Tim ask each other questions about the upcoming year in film and whether all of the events of the passed year have to be addressed within films who wish to maintain continuity with reality. How soon is too soon to start making fictional works around a year where fact and fiction have been blurred due to disinformation and whether creating more fictional works surrounding this time would be detrimental to our society.

PS: the random sound you may hear from Tim's side is not him farting, just his chair creaking!

  • Black Documentaries Matter

As a supplement to our "2020: The Year of the Documentary" podcast, in our very first BONUS episode, the Jerks have a transparent conversation about the role of race in 2020 and a few documentaries that helped to highlight systemic racism in America. We initially wanted to involve the topic of race in our last episode but it didn't come up naturally when talking about entertainment value of documentaries. Although this is a movie podcast, we Jerks want to make known the importance of the black influence in our lives and didn't think we would do 2020 justice without discussing the Black Lives Matter Movement.

  • Comedies Don't Get No Respect

The Jerks are comin' in hot to make an argument for why Comedy Films deserve to be recognized as a higher art for they have the ability to, arguably, evoke the most emotion from an audience, while maintaining longevity through re-watchability  and their likelihood to inspire quotes that, we as a society, use to interact and connect through. We even argue that it takes more refined acting chops and a more specific awareness from an actor to use comedy effectively. The Jerks are jazzed up and pissed that comedies "get no respect!"
