Part of what God did for us in Jesus was not to forget our sin, but not holding it against us ever again. That’s forgiveness. We don’t grow when we hold back forgiveness, and that’s seriously stifling when it comes to relationships.

Today’s sacrifice was all about a substitution for atonement. For God’s people, it was the sacrifice of an animal, in a specific way and place. It was a burdensome process. But, as Pastor Daniel explained today, it is truly an amazing gift that Jesus has been given to us as the eternal sacrifice. God takes our failings, and that’s hugely comforting as we reflect on the fact that He knows every one. Despite that, He is willing to perfect us through sacrifice.

Some things we read in the Bible are difficult to understand, and some we’ll never understand until we can ask Him face to face. As Pastor Daniel explores the specifics of the sacrifices mentioned in Leviticus, we’ll find that there is a lot left unsaid. But, instead of being frustrated, listen and be encouraged to know that we are all in process, all the time. When you seek God, He does the work to refine and mature you, and understanding will come.

It’s in our nature to keep our best to for ourselves…but not in God’s nature. It seems counterintuitive to think that keeping your best for yourself means you’re losing something…but that’s exactly what it is. Today, Pastor Daniel continues to take us through the sacrifices God gave the people through Moses. God can take our firstfruits, our best, and do something even more amazing. After all, He’s the reason we even have what we do.

It’s easy to blow off giving when you don’t have much to give. But, that’s not what God’s concerned about. As Pastor Daniel begins this study, Sacrifice, we begin by hearing about what God really cares about. It’s not money, or stuff…but the heart. Everything we have was given to us by Him. As we learn about sacrifice, we’ll come to a new understanding about what that really means…from our money, to our time…to our lives.

If you were going to write an autobiography…would you include EVERYTHING about your life so far? We all have things in our past that we’re ashamed of, but for the believer…those shameful parts are vital to our stories, because they illustrate exactly what we were saved from. Newness of life takes on a deeper meaning when you realize just how lost you were. Today, Pastor Daniel teaches about the power of a life transformed by Jesus.
