I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 2nd of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in the second book in the Bible, Exodus 2:6:

“And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him,…”

This was a heathen woman who had compassion on a little baby that was crying, and of course, we know what happened after that. She took that little baby to be her own, and his name was Moses. She gave him that name, and he grew up to be one of God’s chosen men. He took the Israelites out of bondage, out of Egypt and through the desert to the land of milk and honey.

Then we go to the Book of Matthew 18:6:

“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

A millstone weighs approximately 5 tons. Jesus is making a very clear point this morning to you and to me. Jesus loves little children. Remember when He was tired and the mothers were bringing their children, their babies to Jesus so He could bless them? And the disciples were trying to help the Lord and keep the children back, and what did He say?

“Let the little children come unto Me for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” 
Matthew 19:14

The Lord is making it very plain today, sir and madam, look after that child. That child actually does not belong to you. That child belongs to God. He is just allowing you to look after that baby for Him. We had better do it. Don’t neglect your children. Spend time with them, love them and discipline your children. There is nothing more embarrassing than to see a child - I saw it once in the game reserve - a child throwing its plate of ice cream all over the table, and the waitress had to try and clean it up, and the mother and father did nothing about it. What an embarrassment! I have never forgotten that as long as I live. Teach them good manners, love them, spend time with them, and most of all, be a good example to them.
