    15. Let's Talk About Death

      🎵 let's talk about death, baby 🎵

I was once told that researching  Judaism is like the ocean--there is always more, particularly when it comes to death and dying. Death is a universal experience--one of the things that connect all people around the world. It is natural that each and every culture develops its own unique perception and practices in response to death.

This week, let's dive into our first episode in a mini-series all about death in Judaism.

      13. Blood Libel

This week, we cover the immensely frightening topic of blood libel. In our longest episode yet, we cover the origins of blood libel, famous cases, a short timeline, and how blood libel may appear in the modern-day.

Trigger warning for the episode as it will contain discussions of murder, violence, assault, cannibalism, infanticide, torture, mass shootings, and ritualistic killings. I will not go into much detail as you don’t want to hear it and I don’t want to have to say it.

      14. Jewish Vampires, Werewolves, and Twilight (Oh My)

This week the Jewitches podcast is discussing vampires and werewolves in Jewish mythology. Newsflash: we've been talking about them since biblical times, even if you didn't know it...Featuring some amazing stories from the Sefer Chasidim, a story of the Baal Shem Tov standing off against Satan's werewolf, and a guide to successfully killing Jewish vampires, this episode isn't one you want to miss..Plus, there is a short tangent discussing religion in Twilight, with a recording from JuliaGoesTexas on TikTok. Huge thank you to them for allowing me to use their clip!

      16. Witch History: Jews and the Witchcraze

We've all heard the saying, "We are the daughters of the witches they couldn't burn", but what if we actually looked at who those witches were? In this episode, we explore the impact of antisemitism on the witchcraze and how Jews as a whole suffered through the persecution of so-called witches.

you can find a breakdown of the episode on jewitches.com under a blog of the same title.

      17. Debunking the Dybbuk Box

In 2003, a listing appeared on eBay for a box haunted by a dybbuk. With the Hebrew word Shema inscribed on the back, the lister, Kevin Mannis, wove an intricate story of a Jewish Holocaust survivor and a demon trapped in a wine box.

The Internet flew into a rage, fascinated and sickened by the idea of a box so terrible, and dybbuk boxes came to life. This is the first mention of a dybbuk box in history, but these creatures of Jewish folklore have existed for centuries...

Make no mistake, Kevin Mannis created the Dybbuk Box. He probably didn't expect the avalanche-like cult following that would come from it...Neither did the Jewish community, which suddenly had to take up arms to combat the raging misinformation and antisemitism that spread like a wildfire as a result.

Today, we discuss the true nature of Dybbukim, find out whether or not Post Malone is actually cursed by a dybbuk, and read the true confession of the creator of the worlds (fakest) haunted object.
