Dr. Andrea Woodson-Smith is a professor at North Carolina Central University, specializing in adaptive physical activity and sports and physical education pedagogy.  Her resiliency following a career-ending injury ultimately paid off, finding her way back into the game of basketball and filling a void of competition. She played for coach Shelia Moorman and the Dukes from 1990-93.

Linton Townes led JMU in scoring as a junior and senior, the first two seasons the Dukes played, and advanced, in the NCAA Division I Championship Tournament. A JMU Athletics Hall of Fame member, he was picked 33rd overall in the 1982 NBA Draft and played professionally for 17 years in the US and abroad.

In December 1981, Sue Manelski Kampert, the guest of this podcast, became the first JMU women's basketball freshman to score 30 points in a game, and she did so in back-to-back contests.  It took 26 seasons for another freshman to strike for 30, Dawn Evans did so late in her first season.  On Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, Peyton McDaniel became the fastest JMU frosh to score 30, accomplishing the milestone in her fourth game.
