Exodus 2:6, "When she (Pharaoh's daughter) had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children."

I believe that Moses' mother had great faith in God. I can only assume that she was strategic and that the decisions she made were purposeful.

The Bible isn't descriptive about this instance, but I believe that Jochebed didn't haphazardly wake up one morning and randomly make an ark of bulrushes. She was probably preparing for this day for months, to give her son the best chance of survival. I can imagine that she studied the different pathways of the river and the ones that lead to the palace of Pharaoh.

Jochebed probably knew the Egyptians believed that the Nile was a god who gave life. It's possible that when Pharaoh's daughter saw the baby boy, she thought it was a gift of life from her god.

I truly think that Jochebed was an inventive person.

Exodus 2:9, "And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it."

Jochebed raised Moses into his preschool years. You may look at a child under four years of age and not expect much of them, but Moses' mother impacted his life during this time.

She probably instilled the principles of God into his life every day because he grew up with a strong conviction about who he was. I'm sure she said things like, "Moses, you are set apart for greatness. You are not an Egyptian. You are not like the world. Moses, you are a Hebrew. You worship one God and His name is YAHWEH.

Jochebed's jurisdiction over her family lead her son, Moses, to have jurisdiction to lead millions of people out of Egypt and he became the great deliverer of what would become the Nation of Israel.

Moses' mother didn't only raise Moses, who would become the deliverer of Israel out of Egypt, but she raised Miriam who became the first mentioned prophetess in the Bible, and Aaron, who was the voice in Pharaoh's court and the first high priest of the tribe of Levi. Her children did mighty exploits for God.

Think about this—Pharaoh's efforts to suppress Israel were thwarted by women.

The midwives feared the Lord (Exodus 1:17).

Jochebed hid Moses for three months (Exodus 2:3-4).

Miriam, Moses' sister who was a child herself, was brave enough to speak to Pharaoh's daughter about hiring a Hebrew mother to nurse the child (Exodus 2:3:7-9).

And, Pharaoh's daughter became Moses adopted mother and protected Moses, and gave him royal opportunities (Exodus 2:10).

Today, you may ask yourself, "What can I do? I'm just one person. How can I make a difference?" When you yield yourself to the Lord, there is nothing that He can't accomplish through your life. You are a powerful woman of God. Let's take back what is rightfully ours, pray powerful prayer for our family, stand for what is right, and walk in the jurisdiction that God has given to us.
