The week ahead brings some shower chances to the Great Lakes, Ohiio Valley and Northeast as weather systems begin to move from west to east once again. A tropical depression is likley to form later this week in the Northwest Caribbean and then becomme a tropical storm or hurricane once it reaches the Gulf of Mexico late in the week and for next weekend. This system needs to be watched very closely.

Gloom & Doom weather for the Northeast & Mid Atlantic is less of an issue the next few days due to low pressure offshore being a little further east and south. Weather conditions won't be perfect but it won't be bad either. Severe weather tonight in the Mississippi River Valley from Missouri to Minnesota with elevated tornado risk. Tropics may get busy next week as a tropical depression or a tropical storm is likely to form in the Northwest Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 9/18/2024. An onshore flow and low pressure off the Mid Atlantic coast has submerged the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states into the weekend. Showery rains and drizzle will be the main story though it doesn't rain all the time and rainfall amounts more than manageable. Severe weather tonight will be in the Plains from Minnesotat to Northwest Texas. Lower than normal pressures are developing in the Caribbean and we could see tropical cyclone formation there over the weekend or early next week.

Moisture from low pressure in the Mid Atlantic states will head northward and spread showery rains to the coastal Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. Large high pressure in Eastern Canada is forecast to build southward late week and this weekend keeping an onshore flow in place. Thunderstorms and severe weather risk is in the Western Plains tonight and shifting eastward Wednesday. The tropics are mostly quiet other than Gordon which is a weak system in the Atlantic and no threat to land.

Weather in 5, 9/17/2024 Showery rains are forecast to move up from the Mid Atlantic to Southern and Southeastern New England later tonight and Wednesday as low pressure forms offshore. Coastal flooding is likely from Virginia to Southern England over the next several days. The onshore flow will likely keep things cloudy and somewhat wet (though it doesn't rain all the time) into Saturday before weather conditions improve Sunday. Weather models are lining up with some kind of tropical storm developing in the Caribbean and heading into the Gulf of Mexico later next week but that is a long way away at this stage. Severe weather is likely tonight in the Western Plains from Eastern New Mexico northward to Eastern Montana and the Dakotas.

Weather in 5, 9/16/2024 Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 is mostly inland in North Carolina where areas of heavy rain are causing flash flooding this afternoon and this will continue tonight. Some of that rain will move northward up the coast to New Jersey and Southern New England later Tuesday night and Wednesday but the rain should not amount to much. Weather conditions will only improve slowly until the weekend when high pressure to the northeast builds down the East Coast.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 9/15/2024. High pressure and a blocking pattern over Eastern Canada and the Northeast will keep things nice for one more day. Then the onshore flow will take over and moisten things up Tuesday through the rest of the week. Low pressure off the Southeast US coast has a chance of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm before moving inland in the Carolinas Monday.

Weather in 5, 9/10/2024 Tropical Storm Francine is in the Southwest Gulf of Mexico and will begin moving northeastward today. Conditions are favorable for strengthening to a hurricane and warnings are up for the Louisiana coast. In the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes we have a sprawling area of high pressure at the surface and aloft which will block all tropical moisture from moving northward for the next week or so. Dry warm weather conditions will last at least through the weekend and into early next week.

We have a new tropical storm developing in the Western Gulf of Mexico and this system is likely to intensify to a hurricane as it heads north and northeast toward the Louisiana coast midweek. In the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, Ohio Valley, and Great Lakes nice late summer weather continues to roll along as strong high pressure builds and holds in the Eastern US.
