Joe & Joe Weather Show  Severe weather tonight in the upper Midwest includes a moderate risk for severe weather. Thursday the risk area shifts to the Ohio Valley, Northeast and Mid Atlantic states with a 2 to 5 percent chance for a tornado. July is winding down with a strengthening northwest flow in the upper atmosphere that will bring lower humidity and cooler air into the Great Lakes and Northeast Friday and Saturday. The tropicsl remain quiet and we look ahead at the long range.

Joe & Joe Weather Show It has been a mostly quiet weather day in the US with a few notable exceptions. Severe weather is  moving into Northern NY and NW New England tonight. Showers and thunderstorms cover much of the South, and Southeast US. Also we are seeing the Southwest and Northern Rockies dealing with thunderstorms. Severe weather risks turn to the coastal plain of the Northern Mid Atlantic to New England Wednesday before lower humidity finally arrives for this area for the end of the week.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Saturday's widespread severe weather is done and now we have a calmer day ahead across the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. No severe weather outbreaks are forecast today across the US. Across the South we have occasional thunderstorms and some flash flood risks today. The weeek ahead will have several weather systems moving through the Eastern US. In the Pacific Major Hurricane Felicia is moving westward but will weaken as it psases well south of Hawaii later this week. Scattered thunderstorms are occurring in the Eastern US along with Florida and the Gulf Coast. Flash Flood Watches are up in the Southwest US as heavy rains move into severe drought areas. The tropics remain quiet.

Joe & Joe Weather Show  Tropical Storm Elsa continues on a northeast course up the Eastern Seaboard forecast to reach the coast tonight near Delaware or Southern New Jersey and pass very close to Long Island Friday morning followed by a pass over Southeastern Massachusetts. Flash Flood Watches posted from the Mid Atlantic to Western New England. Severe thunderstorm watches are up from Southeast Pennsylvania to Southern New England, Tornado Watch Coastal Mid Atlantic due to Elsa. We have the forecast and a look ahead to a calmer weekend and a hot and humid week ahead.

Weather in 5 Tropical Storm Elsa is moving into North Carolina with 45 mph winds and heavy rains. We break down what you can expect as Elsa moves northeastward up the coast. The center will pass just southeast of NYC and Long Island Friday morning and the head up into New England. Heavy rains of 2 to 4 inches and gusty winds along the coast will last about 6 to 8 hours at most overnight into Friday morning. The impacts will continue with heavy rain in North Carolina moving into Eastern Virginia Maryland and Delaware, followed by New Jersey NYC Long Island Southern New England and the Hudson Valley late tonight and Friday morning and in Southeastern New England Friday morning into early afternoon.

Joe & Joe Weather Show  Tropical Storm Elsa is inland in South Georgia and will be moving northeast just inland of the coast of Georgia tonight and the Carolinas on Thursday bringing with it a small area of heavy rains. From there the storm or remnant low will continue northeastward up the coast barely offshore and bring 6 to 8 hours of rain and some wind along the coast late Thusday night and Friday morning. Tropical Storm Warnings are posted from the Georgia coast northward to North Carolina. Tropical Storm Watches posted from Delmarva to Southern New England.

Joe & Joe Weather Show  Elsa has strengthened to a hurricane with winds of 75 mph. Hurricane warnings have been issued for the west coast of Florida with landfall along the Big Bend Tuesday. Heavy rains and strongest winds are all east of the center and Elsa will rake the western half of the state tonight with landfall Wednesday morning. In the Northeast we have severe weather this evening as an upper trough moves through. Another round of severe weather is possible Wednesday. Then we watch Elsa moving through the Southeast Thursday and head northeast into New England Friday.
