Joe & Joe Weather Show Thursday August 19, 2021 Tropical Storm Henri continues moving west with 65 mph winds. Weather models this evening indicated a slightly more westward course is possible as it heads northward over the weekend which means the risk to Southern, Southeastern New England and Long Island are increasing. We take a look at all the evening models including tonight's new NAM model for clues about what may happen with Henri. It is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane Friday into Saturday.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Wednesday August 18, 2021 Tropical Storm Henri is moving westward and closer to the East Coast of the US. It appears that the risks to the Northeast are rising as weather models continue to show Henri closer to the coast with every model cycle. We look at all the players involved in the atmosphere regarding Henri. Timing would be Sunday into Monday. Hurricane Grace is moving westward and strengthening with winds of 80 mph and on its way to the Northern Yucatan Peninsula. Tonight the remnants of Fred are bringing severe weather and some tornado activity to parts of the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic.

Tropical Storm Fred is strengthening a bit in the Gulf of Mexico as it heads northwestward toward the western Florida Panhandle & the Alabama Gulf Coast. Fred could strengthen a bit more as it heads to the coast and then spreads heavy rain into the Southeast US. Tropical Depression Grace is heading toward Hispaniola with heavy rains and gusty winds. Grace is forecast to cross Hispaniola and Cuba before heading into the Gulf of Mexico next week. Low pressure north of Bermuda is getting better organzied as it  drifts southward The week ahead in the east sees the return of tropical humidity along with some rains from the remnants of Fred.

Tropical Depression Fred remains disorganized  just offshore the north coast of Eastern Cuba and it continues a west northwest course. Wind shear is creating a hostile environment. We look ahead to where Fred is headed and whether it will strengthen when it reaches the Gulf of Mexico. Severe weather is scattered around parts of the Northeast this evening after a day of brutal heat and humidity that extended down to the Middle Atlantic states. We have the outlook for the weekend, long range and we will look at the rest of the tropics.

August weather is continuing across the US with nothing extraordinary or unusual.  Severe weather is possible over parts of the Northern Plains and Great Lakes today and a widespread outbreak is possible Tuesday across the Great Lakes, Ohio and Middle Mississippi Valley as well as much of Pennsylvania and NY southward in the Appalachians. A tropical disturbance approaching the Lesser Antillies is getting better organzied and a tropical depression may form tonight or Tuesday as it heads west northwestward.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Heat and humidity are coming back to the Northeast and Mid Atlantic today with the except of a small area from New Jersey to Southern New England and Long Island. A weak low is producing clouds and rain in this small area today and that should linger into the afternoon. The week ahead will feature heat and humidity in the East. Severe weather is coming to the upper midwest and the Middle and Upper Mississippi Valley today. Severe weather prospects are higher this week especially mid and late week as a cold front heads eastward. Three tropical waves continue to hang around the tropical Atlantic and we will assess the development prospects of these systems. A look at the week ahead and the long range.
