Based on the 2018 novel of the same name, 'Where the Crawdads Sing' is the story of Kya; an outsider living within the marshes in North Carolina, who finds herself being blamed for the death of a former love interest. The mystery thriller wasn’t as ‘thrillery’ as maybe most would have liked, but I found the story overall surrounding Kya really investing. Directed by '10 Cloverfield Lane’s' Dan Trachtenberg, 'Prey' brings a very stripped back and simple approach, something that the Predator franchise has desperately needed. The film has that familiarity, but also does things that are completely new and unique making this easily the best Predator film since the original. Now this was certainly a fun ride for 2022. 'Bullet Train' is up there as best surprise package of the year. With a star-studded cast including Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King and plenty more, the film has a tonne of fantastic action, layered with laugh out loud humour that only enhances the experience of this 2 hour thrill ride. 'The Ritual' was released back in 2017 and was one of the MANY films I frustratingly missed from that year. Based on the novel of the same name, the film centres around 4 friends hiking through Scandinavian woods, where terrifying things start to unfold. The vision from director David Bruckner is excellent, and you can tell he has seen enough horror/thriller films to know how to pay homage, but also, do things differently. Leading the cast is Rafe Spall who puts out a top performance along with a believable friendship group as they battle their way through this nightmare. Catch full thoughts in this episode

Comic-Con returned over the weekend with a bunch of fantastic announcements! In this episode, I’ll be going over everything that caught my attention - and the releases I’m most excited for. From John Wick 4, The Walking Dead, The Rings of Power and Marvels hefty announcements for Phase 5 and 6 - there is certainly a lot to whet that appetite in the pop culture world!

Judge Dredd returned to the big screen in 2012 with slow-mo, guns and Karl Urban. The film did ok at the box office, however, not enough to ever gain a sequel – which is an absolute travesty. In this episode, I’ll be revisiting and discussing 'Dredd' and pointing out the many things I enjoyed about this film (mostly Karl Urban's chizzled jawline). Spoilers within!

Stranger Things is one of my all time favourite shows - and so, like many others, I was beyond hyped for the brand new season, wondering what was next for our heroes in Hawkins. The Duffer Brothers have yet again excelled with the story for Season 4; full of horror, twists, stunning visuals and fantastic performances from all – in particular Sadie Sink, who was outstanding this season. Thor is back! The 4th instalment helmed by Taika Waititi, following his excellent work with Thor Ragnarök, is very camp, very colourful and has a very good villain.. however, the film overall for me was just way too silly and almost feel they have lost Thor’s identity. After years, we finally have a new story involving Obi-Wan Kenobi! This is something I have been wanting for some time, and overall, I feel Deborah Chow and Disney really have delivered with this show. Having Ewan McGregor back as this titular character is wonderful, and added to the fact Hayden Christensen returned also as Anakin/Vader was fantastic for this story.
