In this chapter, God reveals his homophobia. There are people who want God to be more progressive, but this is a pretty direct indicator that he’s not. Someone, doesn’t say who, was tattle-tailing on the gay town of Sodom where (against all literal odds) everyone is at least bisexual. Lot tries to help his son’s in law (who are betrothed to his virgin daughters which Lot offered the whole town to defile), but they think he’s joking because Lot is always cracking wise about angels coming to destroy the town.
The chapter ends as the daughters (unnamed) after losing their mom (unnamed) continue the trend of women being exclusively for procreation by raping their father. That’s right, Ham couldn’t look at his dad’s penis, but Lot’s daughters could ride his. This also indicated that consent wasn’t the issue back in Sodom.
Scholars like Dan Mclellan don’t agree with the idea that Sodom was destroyed for the gay thing and that might be true, but why would a whole town of people want to dominate two random men in such a sexually violent way? Just because they were wicked? Here’s Dan’s take:
