What a great analogy! Why would you make a mortgage payment when the house is already paid in full? That’s ridiculous, and it’s a waste of money. Some of us are trying to do that with our salvation, though. We’re trying to "make payments" of doing good works because we think it will count towards being saved. Today, Pastor Mark will expel the myth of earning your way to heaven. There’s nothing you can do to pay for your sin. It’s useless to pay for something that’s been paid in full, and that’s what’s happened to your sin. Jesus died on the cross and settled your debt, so stop trying to earn your way into a relationship with Him.
