While Judge Barrett was on the Hill for her confirmation hearing, no one really dug into the possibility that her nomination violated the constitutional principle of separation of church and state; so we conducted a dive into the subject with some help from the speeches of JFK from his 1960 campaign. John P. Flannery, [email protected], @jonflan.
We dedicate this podcast to the Wines, their father Jim, and the "boys" long adults, Charles and Jim.
Trump has been in a free fall in terms of judgment, polls, and rational conduct; let's consider his madness in the context of his proposed Supreme Court nominee, Judge Barrett, who should have never been nominated; we examine her views on a terrorist group for which she provided training, what she really thinks of respecting constitutional precedents at law including Roe v. Wade, and the evidence that this nominee will very likely place her religious faith over the decisions at law she may be sworn to enforce. John P. Flannery, [email protected], @jonflan
The convergence of Trump's indifference to the pandemic and contracting the virus because of that indifference is only the most recent example of Trump's venality and incompetence, threatening to bring his Administration crashing down around him, only 30 days from the presidential election; we discuss the context of this fatal embarrassment and the prospects for the Biden-Harris team to win and for Dem Senators to flip the Senate; in addition, we discuss what the courts are about and how the pending judicial confirmation of Judge Barrett puts the court's integrity at risk. John P. Flannery, [email protected], @jonflan.
We took a closer look at the passing of the Notrious RBG, Trump's callous call for her replacement on the Supreme Court, and how the demand for a new Justice so quickly was an abuse of power. John P. Flannery, @jonflan, [email protected]
This week we are on travel to Maine in a week where there have been a series of politically illuminating events including the fact that voting has now begun. This episode is about offering observations about where we stand and what else we might think to do - including another impeachment of Trump. John P. Flannery, [email protected] @jonflan
We reviewed Trump's lies about the virus, his disagreeable remarks about the military, and abour race, and asked how is this going down on the down ballot races, and focused on the Senate race in Maine. We argued against any presidential debate with Mr. Trump, and reviewed what authorities have to say about any vaccine. John P> Flannery, jonflan#aol.com, #jonflan
We thought it was time to look at the campaign in terms of the frames of reference that characterize Trump and Biden, and we also have a special guest, Beverly Markland. John P. Flannery, [email protected], @jonflan
In this episode we take a look at Trump's lies about the pandemic, racial injustice, and interference in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. It's also time to consider the tradition of civil disobedience from Jefferson to Thoreau to Associate Justice Doughlas. John P. Flannery, [email protected], @jonflan
In this episode we consider the enemy within, Donald Trump, his character, a list of current failing conduct, his relationship to Qanon, and his efforts to fix the election by suppressing mail in ballots. John P. Flannery, [email protected], @jonflan
The Trump Administration has done whatever it could, with the compliant head of the USPS, Postmaster General Louis de Joy, to suppress the mail in ballot vote that is expected to be large this year because voters seek to avoid personal contact so they can be safe from contracting the covid-19 virus. We were lucky to have award winning investigative journalist Peter Lance join us to discuss the findings of Claire McKean, a researcher who studied public documents and saw that so-called postal reforms appeared to be dependent on the politics of the precincts where the "reforms" were being instituted. Claire joined us as well. We reviewed Trump's consistently bad and dangerous advice to send children to school and Trump's campaign attacks against Senator Kamala Harris, the Vice Presidential nominee on the Biden Harris ticket John P.
