John and Gordy kick off today's show arguing about the proper temperature outside, as every source they check seems to say something different! We cover the (brief) National Day Calendar, and talk food and bologna (because its not food), before checking in with Sam for Today in History. After the break, Dr. Tim Slekar of BustED Pencils joins the show to recap and expand on their latest podcast: just what kids are learning in public schools, and how it goes far beyond giving them information. Rather, schools have the broader goal of creating citizens and community leaders.

Hour two kicks off with Terry Bell's Big Story of the day: John Kelly, former Chief of Staff for Trump, now saying in an interview how dangerous the man is. We hear some cuts of Tim Walz from his visit to Madison yesterday, then check in with Brittney Merlot for a look at today's windy weather. John digs into the story of Trump on Arnold Palmer's genitals (as if we haven't talked enough about our privates today!). Later, Mike McCabe joins us as he does every Wednesday. The guys cover topics ranging from winning the popular vote and losing presidency, to "othering," and how it applies to immigration.

John and Gordy start out the day getting schooled on Yung Gravy, the rapper formerly of Madison, back in town to promote voting rights. Gordy and Sam recount their experience seeing Charlie Berens last night, then we talk horror movies with the National Day Calendar. We check in with Sam for Today in History, then get into the Idiocracy, talking Trump blaming his policies on Harris, the bankrupting of social security, and Elon Musk's new plan for robots to carry pregnancies, rather than humans. The guys unveil their freshly arrived stress balls (new merch!), and close out the hour discussing a cut from Rachel Maddow, on Trump voters who reason that doing so is a "business decision."

In hour two, News Director Terry Bell joins us for today's Big Story: a rise in gun deaths in Wisconsin. We also get the scoop from Terry on the first day of early voting in the state, before talking more about Trump's work-for-show at McDonald's. Brittney Merlot makes her daily appearance for a local and interplanetary weather update, and later, the guys are joined by attorney and host of Amicus: A Law Review, Jim Santelle. He, John, and Gordy chat about the idea of a unitary executive, or a president with unchecked power, as well as Schedule F of Project 2025, which would classify civil servants as partisan positions, and allow the president to essentially fire them all, and appoint whoever they want. After the break, we also ask Jim about some of the electoral shenanigans that may go on in the event that neither candidate gets 270 votes.

Guest: Jim SantelleGordy has unexpectedly returned early, after his surgery was called off. He and John do what old people like to do: talk about their health problems. After we get that out of our system, the guys tackle the National Day Calendar, and check in with Sam for Today in History. Later, we get into the Idiocracy to hear about "other jobs Harris had in high school," Trump's doofus take on sex changes in schools, and cover more from the senate debate last week. Closing out the hour, we hear AOC's take on Trump at McDonald's, and also a religious argument against the idea that life begins at conception.

Terry Bell joins John and Matt to start hour two with the Big Story: campaign-palooza from the presidential candidates. We hear a couple cuts from Lizzo, campaigning with Harris at her rally in Detroit last week, on importance of voting. We check in with Brittney Merlot to hear about her weekend, and a forward look at the weather, then get into some complaints about the format and outcome of Friday's Senate debate. Later, Paul Soglin, former mayor of Madison joins the show to give his take on the current standing of the presidential race, teaching about the good and bad history of the US, and seeing both progress and regression over the decades, of the right to vote. Closing out the show, we chat with a caller about Eric Hovde's ignorance on the farm bill and more from the debate with his hot (wrong) takes on the ACA.

Its a full house this morning! John, Gordy, Sam, and guest co-host Matt Rothschild. Gordy's surgery is today, but he joins us for the first half hour to walk through the National Day Calendar, and give an in depth summary of what'll happen under the knife later today. After the break, John and Matt talk about his new podcast, Wisconsin Forward, now out through Civic Media, and also the truly fascist nature, and danger of Donald Trump. Wrapping up the first hour we hear a Schoolhouse Rock-esque song called "The Pill," on how right-wingers aim to take away birth control, and also get comments on the significance of the Dobbs decision by John and Matt.

The grind don't stop on the John and Gordy Show! For this week's best-of, we'll hear first from their conversation on Tuesday about John's up-close experience with the BRT bus stops, and his (hot) take on why "old school" Republicans shouldn't make a comeback when Trump goes by the wayside. We get a fun look at Today in History with Sam from Thursday, then hear parts of two great interviews: Scott Klug, on the advantages and disadvantages of different voting systems, and Dr. Tim Slekar, discussing the best ways to utilize AI in schools.
Max Ink's Rökker is in to preview the weekend local music show, upcoming Halloween events and play clips of local music.

John and Gordy chat with her on her background as a mental health professional, being pro choice, and childcare.
