the dream of travel anywhere away from the malaise of winter by train by car by plane by boat by bike by foot bye bye bye bye bye
dear ugly buildings / paying your homely / homage to this delicate // late february sunrise / breathe in the light and / receive your blessing
i'm standing over / the spokane river / looking east after the sun / rose behind dysthimc clouds / and peeked through above / stolid distant hills
Six Haiku at Sunrise 1. Wires stretched across the horrible beautiful sky, sending love and hate. 2. Utility pole, electric crucifix, stands in the blood-orange air. 3. Globe willow next door, revived from traumatic death, buds in the sunrise. 4. My neighborhood sky stretching to infinity, blue, orange, pink, gold. 5. The sun itself clears the cold horizon and shoots its rays through bruised clouds. 6. My window open, the cold morning air strangely suffused with warm thoughts.
O river of my childhood longings lost, / The sunrise of my youth now gone, / With clouds now crossed / The skyline of my daily dawn. / And yet the glory and the freshness still / Remains in what I want and wish and will.
