In this episode, I speak with Josh Hawley, a close friend who will soon be returning to the US after a five-year stint in Japan. This is Josh's second stay in Japan, the first being as a US Navy sailor back in the late 1990s, at which time he met his ex-wife and had a son, both of whom he remains in close contact with today. While in Japan, Josh spent over a year teaching in Tateshina, and during that time we spent a great many hours together hiking Nagano's gorgeous peaks and taking long walks around town together with Den, the doge.

The outro was '93 Til Infinity by Souls of Mischief. The intro was my own original mashup of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star), a few anime sound bites, some kabuki, a cheap recording of my son’s Buzz Lightyear toy, and “Dubstep" from BenSound.
