This week on Journey to June, I spoke to someone I have always been inspired by – Lakshmi Natarajan. Lakshmi is the founder of Travel Plus Them, a platform that aims to inspire global family travel and raise inclusive global citizens. She is also the owner of Accelador, a consulting company that provides strategy consulting and business services. Lakshmi is passionate about diversity, inclusion, and cultural immersion, and she believes that travel is a powerful tool for learning and personal growth.
I met Lakshmi a few years ago in a mastermind group we were both in. I was immediately inspired by the work Lakshmi is doing and was absolutely blown away by her view of the world. As a traveler myself, I see the need for introducing our children to other cultures and countries in order to create diversity and inclusion for all. Being an immigrant child, Lakshmi faced a lot of challenges growing up. But thanks to her grandfather’s teachings, and her own journey, Lakshmi has found her calling… raising our children to be inclusive, cultured and compassionate global citizens. In this episode, I talked to Lakshmi about how her experiences as a child influenced her work, how to introduce our children to the beauty of diversity, and have a deeper understanding about different cultures.

This week on Journey to June, I sat down with Ingrid Neel, a professional tennis player from Florida and my dear friend who constantly inspires me. Ingrid takes me on a captivating journey through her life as a youth athlete, shedding light on the challenges she has faced in the competitive world of tennis. She also shares her insights on transitioning from singles to doubles and the crucial role of finding the right coach. She emphasizes the value of perseverance, joyfulness, and bravery in pursuing one's dreams.
This was one of the first episodes I ever recorded back in early January during Ingrid’s first tennis tournament of the year. I saved this episode because I will be bringing Ingrid back on the podcast in a few weeks to reflect on her achievements, changes, and growth since our initial conversation. Currently ranked 39th in the world in doubles, Ingrid has made tremendous progress since our earlier conversation when she was ranked 80th. There will be lots to catch up on in part 2, so keep an eye out for that! It's an honor and joy to have Ingrid on the show twice during her best year yet.

This week on Journey to June, I am joined once again by my daughter, Josi June. We mixed things up this week and had Josi interview ME to learn more about my experiences in middle school. We discussed the first day of middle school, favorite teachers, best friends, school lunches, and favorite sports. We also touched on the importance of asking for help, being okay with failure, and the role of coaches and teachers in creating a supportive environment for students. Finally, I share my favorite memories from middle school and the need for adults to be curious and understanding towards children's experiences.

This week, I am joined by my wonderful sister-in-law, Tracy Posillico. Tracy is a mom of five and currently living an unconventional lifestyle: her family lives in both the U.S. and Brazil throughout the year. Living in between countries, her kids are being raised to be bilingual, culturally aware, adaptable, and—perhaps most importantly—comfortable with discomfort. It’s not easy to go against the grain, but Tracy and her family are able to take it in stride with the support of the memory of their baby girl Whitney, who passed away from a rare form of pediatric cancer at only a year old. The importance of making a positive impact and being okay with the abnormal are lessons Tracy and I have learned from Whitney, who lived her life full of smiles and continues to touch people’s lives in many ways. The Whit Whit Walk, an annual walk established by Tracy and her family that fundraises for and spreads awareness of pediatric cancer, is one of the ways Whitney has left her mark. Another way is through the pediatric cancer research Tracy is involved in, which is making an astonishing effort to prevent childhood cancer from cutting other lives short. In this episode, we talk about dealing with difficult situations, walking the harder path, and living true to yourself, even if your truth is abnormal.
