In today's episode I wanted to share openly & honestly how I have built self worth + confidence in myself over the years because I don't think the journey is talked about enough. 

No one wants to admit that they aren't confidence in themselves or were not confident. & I whole heartedly understand that. & Honestly this episode is very VULNERABLE for me to share but I think it's important. 

As I recovered from my previous UC flare, I realized I handled things differently than 24-year-old me did, and it came down to this foundation of SELF WORTH that I have built. 

I remember 23/24 year old me just wanting to feel better about herself. She just wanted to not hate herself. I know 23/24 year old me is so RELIEVED that I finally have some self worth TODAY as a 28 year old woman.

It’s important to set goals for yourself. When you set a goal you set an intention and you give yourself a direction and a milestone to work towards. What’s detrimental about goal setting is how we treat ourselves when we don’t reach those goals. And this is a narrative we need to change!

Setting goals means living up to the perceived expectations that we put on ourselves because we think that’s how we’re going to get results. And then when things change and life happens, we immediately begin to blame and shame ourselves for not meeting our goals. We let our ego tear us down and discourage us because “we should have been able to do it.”

Failing to reach a goal by an arbitrary point in time is exactly that - arbitrary. It’s our best educated guess. But there is no timeline to achieving your dreams and we need to learn how to embrace and CELEBRATE the MONUMENTUS PROGRESS throughout our journey by turning our “setbacks' ' into successes.   

In this episode, I talk more about: 

• Being proud of yourself and how far you’ve come amidst a “failure”
• Reminding yourself to stop comparing your timeline of “success” to others
• Assessing your situation in a proactive and compassionate way
• Pushing your ego aside and approaching setbacks as new learning experiences. (You are learning and GROWING so much!!!) 
• Not getting so hung up on the “deadlines” and how to handle it when things don’t go according to plan
• And most importantly, how we are all human! We can’t plan for unexpected setbacks, but we can stop beating ourselves up and be open to the new opportunities that these “failures” bring to light. 

AFFIRMATION: I am adaptable, I accept changes and can adjust to any situation.
