Everybody wants to start a business now, but nobody really knows what they want to do. So here is one thing that you should figure out. Decide if you are more interested in a product business, or a service business.
Really... the first thing you should have in mind when starting a business is a solution to a common and real problem. If your solution is a product, great. If it's a service, great. You're in business.
But which business is actually better, or easier, to run? Well of course the answer is neither.
Service businesses are extremely common for startups now because they have a much lower barrier to entry in most cases. What does that mean? It means exactly what you think it does. People want to start a business without spending a whole ton of money, and service businesses are often the better option for that.
However service businesses have their downsides too. They are usually more difficult to scale than product businesses, and sometimes there is a ceiling on your revenue. Cash flow isn't quite as smooth when you are running a service business, but hey, at least you were able to afford to get into the business.
Then there are product businesses. Where you are selling physical, tangible products to your consumer. Although a software company could also be considered a product business since the software is the product.
The deal with product businesses is just the inverse of the service businesses. It will take more of your money up front to formulate, invent, program, or do whatever you need to do to get your product. Then you might have to buy inventory, and once you have your product, there's not really much going back.
The good news with product businesses is that they are much easier to scale, and if you find a product that is selling in the market... you're golden.
So which type of business would you start if you were starting today? Product or Service?

I just saw a post on Facebook today talking about how people in the food-service industry work their butts off, even though it doesn't always come off that way.
I had a few takeaways from that post... and of course that's what I talk about in this one.

What are the things that really stress you out during your every day life?
What are the biggest problems you are actually facing right now? Be honest.
Now, what does that tell you about yourself?
Are your problems relevant?
Are they really worth your time?
Are they really worth getting upset about?
What can you do to make them go away?

So let's pick up where we left off with being proactive instead of reactive...
How exactly do you do that?
What steps can you actually take in order to get yourself into that state?
Well let's start where we start... the morning.
This episode will give you some tips to start each and every morning out strong, get yourself on top of the chain of command, and keep yourself PROACTIVE throughout the day.
But it will take some effort and some serious discipline...

Everyone's biggest fear nowadays is probably getting stuck in a terrible job for the rest of their lives.
What's even worse is that there are a lot of folks out there that think that they need to stick themselves in a job that they dread every morning. It's just the only way they see it.
Rodney Miller currently runs a few of his own medical practices, and is also an avid real estate investor who has created FREEDOM for himself through these ventures.
This isn't how things always were for Rodney though... he started off his adult life by taking five years to get his four-year degree, and then moving away from home and getting caught up in a job that he hated.
The good news is, he knew what was going on, and he knew that he could live a higher quality of life. So he quit his job and returned home to try and pursue his own living.
After one thing led to another, he started his business in the medical field and got that off the ground... and now has the money to invest in real estate, which is what he hopes to one day do full time.
If there is one major takeaway from this episode... it should be that there is plenty of OPPORTUNITY out there for you to go and find a way to make a good living... without having to dread waking up five days out of the week.

It's a very exciting week for us here on Star Student Sunday!
Gerard has just graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Game Art from Full Sail University, and now we are getting even deeper into work on the podcast!
This week we have what is technically our second (or maybe third) episode that was recorded in person, but this one is with a far better set up.
Our very first episode was recorded in person, but it was only audio and it was recorded straight onto my Google Pixel 2.
Then, we moved on and did an episode back around Black Friday where we had a webcam, awful lighting, and a condenser mic plopped right between us, and we did one straight shot.
Now, we have three cameras set up, a couple of studio lights, two microphones, and some much better editing to show you today.
So ultimately, we will tell you guys what is happening moving forward both with Gerard and his career, and with the podcast itself.
We decided to use this opportunity to talk about what it's actually like when you just get out of college.
Is the Bachelor's Degree all it's cracked up to be?
Should you pursue further education?
How hard might it be to find a job?
All of these questions, and more, on JRP DAILY.

Fun news... I got a new microphone.
Other fun news... I started Ed Mylett's book today.
That's where I got the idea to talk about the difference between being proactive and being reactive... so shoutout to Ed for that and his book #MAXOUT.
Whoever you are, and whatever you do, you WILL benefit from choosing to be proactive instead of reactive.
Perhaps in the next set of solo episodes I will go over ways to do that.
But until then....

What do you think of when you think of Power?
Is it good or bad?
What can we do to make sure that not all of the power in the world corrupts?
These are big questions.

Goals can be very frustrating, because a lot of times they don't work out. So wouldn't it be cool to figure out how to set goals that you actually DO achieve, without just lowering the bar until you get there? (That would be the worst thing you could do by the way)
Well here's what I've noticed, and this is by no means an original idea of my own.
I've had mentors tell me over and over again that I need to be setting more specific goals... and if you're me... that's hard.
At this point though, I have to admit that they are right.
Of the few targets that I have hit, they have all been targets that were very specific, and since they were specific, it was much easier to find the path to those goals, and to then actually hit my targets.
So if your goals are not specific already.. make them specific. It is the best thing you can do to actually start hitting them.
And DO NOT lower them. If you start lowering your goals in order to achieve specificity... it's probably a testament to what you think you're really capable of.
