For this episode, I will only be able to speak for myself when I talk about paying guests in order to come onto podcasts.
I do not know how any other podcasters run their show in this regard, but I can tell you that there is a huge factor of popularity that plays a role in this. (and greed of course)
There are also some figures out there now that charge anyone to talk to them about anything. Because they feel like they are that important to the world.
At the end of the day, I guess it really comes down to what each party wants.
If the podcaster has a stronger desire for the guest to appear on the show... then guess who'd probably have to pay. And on the flip side... if a guest really wanted to appear on a certain show, maybe they could pay their way onto it.
Here's how I run my show when it comes to paying guests.

Complaining solves nothing.
That's all you need to know.

An article on maxim.com explains that Millennial Dads DIY Skills are plummeting compared to those skills of THEIR dads... but is that a bad thing?
As an entrepreneur, you are not necessarily going to be able to be good at every single thing that needs to run smoothly in your business. That is why businesses HIRE people. If it were plausible to do everything yourself... why would anyone out there have a job?
So there are parallels to this concept in your personal life too. Often times, it is probably better for you to hire someone that knows what they're doing... rather than waste your time acting like you can do everything yourself.... and then probably spending the money in the long run anyway.
As a bonus, if you work from home or run your own business from home... this will free up a TON of time that you can use to work on that. The structure and scale that you can create with all of the extra time will give a return far far greater than the couple of bucks you would save by trying to do everything yourself.
I might be all talk though.

As time goes on, it seems that more and more people are starting to prefer renting their home over buying one, but why?
Well just like in any topic worth discussing, there are a lot of reasons for and against both. Renting a home is more appealing in the regard that you have a fixed expense to send out every month, and you have someone that is in charge of maintaining a certain standard for your home.
On the flip side, buying a home can be a better financial decision if you play your cards really well, and it also gives people the sense of pride that you get from ownership. It can also allow you to live in a better location, raise a family more conveniently, etc.
At the end of the day, of course, there really isn't a right or wrong answer to which you should do.
In my own opinion though, you really should always give both options their fighting chance.
Analyze yourself, your situation, and then do what best fits you.
It only makes sense, right?

This week, certified happiness coach and author Amba Brown is going to give us her insights on life development, self improvement, and finding your path in life.
Amba is the author of the "finding your path" books, and has used what she has learned in positive psychology, to come up with life development tips to help many increase their life development skills.
If you are into this kind of thing, you can find a handful of self improvement channels, self improvement podcasts, self improvement audiobooks, and so on... but this is a stop that you should take.
If you're ever feeling a self improvement Ted Talk... you can actually find Amba's on YouTube!
To a lot of people being a "certified happiness coach" or a positive psychologist might sound like one joke of a job... but those are also probably not very happy people.
I've learned through speaking with folks like Amba that life IS in fact a lot better when you just simply choose to be happy.
There are also a lot of ideas exchanged in this one regarding what it is that you should do with the rest of your life.
Let us know what you thought down in the comments below!

This episode will come in handy as a foundation for some future episodes, as we are going to go over the different brainwaves that are going on inside of your brain, and how they affect not only your brain, but your performance.
Your brain has five different levels of brainwaves, as follows:
Delta: The lowest frequency waves. These are the waves that dominate your brain when you are in a deep deep sleep. Nothing is really going on when you are in a delta state. This is even below the level where you would experience dreams.
Theta: These waves are the next step above delta waves. Theta waves are most often associated with sleeping, or really deep meditation. You'll experience the theta state when your mind is clear, but not fully unconscious.
Alpha: You will experience these Alpha brainwaves most when you are awake, but not very engaged in much of anything. The alpha state can include when you first wake up in the morning, or that time right before you fall asleep at night. Even though it sounds like you would be "out of it" when in an alpha state... this can be when some of your best ideas and decisions come.
Beta: The beta waves are what we experience most often, and what you're experiencing right now. The beta state is the state where you are alert and active. This could be engaging in active reading, active conversation, physical activity, or just about anything else where you are fully alert. This state is where our brains tend to spend the most time.
Gamma: Until recently, we had only discovered up through Beta waves as being the highest frequency brainwaves, but now scientists have introduced gamma waves. The gamma state is kind of like an ultra wired mode in your brain. These are the waves that allow us to get into the flow state, and go above and beyond what we might realize we are even capable of.
Understanding how these brainwaves work can help you understand your brain better by tying certain aspects of psychology to the different states you can be in. If you understand what you should practice in an alpha state, versus what sticks better in gamma, you will be able to make the effort to keep track of how often you are experiencing these different states, and what is actually going on during that time.
For more information like this, be sure to subscribe to the podcast, and come back every Sunday, where we will be discussing all sorts of topics to help you become smarter and learn more, both in and out of the classroom.

Have you ever wondered why some people just seem miserable or upset all the time?
Especially some people that just seem to have everything going for them?
Seriously... don't we all know those people that are just financially stable, live in a nice have, have great friends, and so on... but they still find a way to complain every day?
Since I've started this journey through the world of online entrepreneurship, social media, podcasting, etc. I've become more and more anti-complaining every single day.
I've got to admit, I just don't get it anymore. I mean, I used to kind of be one of the people that I'm talking about, but I've chosen to make the shift into someone that doesn't complain nearly as often as most people do, and to be someone that actually does something about my problems when they do come up.
I'd advise you to do the same.

Do you think you have what it takes to become an EXPERT in whatever it is that you do?
Let me rephrase that question... do you think you ARE or WILL BECOME and expert in your area?
Most people probably think they "have what it takes" and a lot probably also think that they aren't there yet.
Here's what you're going to find out in this episode... You DEFINITELY have what it takes... and you might already be there.
Isn't that awesome?!

There are a lot of moving parts in a business. You have to learn a thing or two about marketing, sales, accounting, operations, and so on. However some of these parts might stand out a little bit more than others... at least in your head.
There is one particular aspect of a company that I think a lot of people are overlooking anymore. They all have this department.. but they are not investing in this department nearly as much as they should be.
Could you guess what it is?

Here's the deal.
Exceptions are really just the root of excuses... and we all know where excuses get you.
If you are going to try and form a new habit, or start some new practice, it ought to be something that you can do with ZERO exceptions.
This means there is no "holidays don't count" or "this doesn't count because _____"
If you can't do it, you can't do it. Face it. Or get over it.
