JRP DAILY

Following through may not always seem like the best idea.

Sometimes you'll find yourself caught up in the middle of executing on a bad idea.

Do you finish that project anyway?

Yes.

Here's why.

Okay, so maybe this episode won't make you a master at ANYTHING you want to become a master at... but I HAVE found a little concept that could definitely be holding you back in life.

That is the concept of the confidence/competency loop.

If you can understand the relationship between your confidence in your ability, and you competency in that area, then you can probably see some improvement pretty quickly.

It really is sort of a paradox how this works in the average person's life, but you can work around it.

Just try.

This week I decided to have one of my old pals come on the show to talk about the age old question... "Should you go to college?"

Evan has really at one point or another considered all of the major options that you have once you leave high school. Go to college, join the military, or join the workforce.

Here we are 4-5 years later, and Evan has ultimately ended up in a position that is actually about the equivalent of an entry level job for any graduated college student. That's what begs the question "is college worth it?"

So while Evan is not a college dropout, rather he just never went in the first place, I think he's still a great example (actually, probably an even better example) of why there is no need to go to college anymore... especially with the outrageous prices.

He has made it pretty far for himself in a short time while working at Walmart. Walmart careers really serve as an opportunity for a lot of people, despite the negative reputation people like to give to working at these major companies.

I can tell you from my own experience that becoming a Walmart Store Manager isn't exactly a walk in the park, and just for fun, you can always look up how much store managers make at Walmart.

Lastly, bigger companies like this now are also finding ways to provide education programs to their employees. Evan and myself will actually both be attending school through employer programs which makes that schooling FAR more affordable.

So while none of this is intended to necessarily tell you what you should do with your life, we just wanted to offer another perspective on things.

Following the crowd has never gotten anyone anywhere that's significant.

If there's one thing I really hated about social media, before I even really got into it, it would be the "social media game."

When I say the social media game, I mean all of the bulls*** that people do in order to get these high follower counts, subscriber counts, and even to get money in some cases.

Follow for follow.

Like for like.

I hate it all.

Here's how it should work.

You see a page, and their content is good.

So you should follow/subscribe.

Not because they're wildly popular.

Not because they followed/subscribed to you.

But because you want to support them.

Support is simple.

Why do we decide to complicate it?

No matter what situation comes up, you can always either control the action or the reaction.

There is never a time when you have absolutely no control over the entirety of a situation and how it affects you.

Period.

Does this episode sound a little bit different?

It should.

I decided I would do another episode that I record and upload straight from my phone. No editing, no music, just record and upload.

This is all you need to do in order to start your own podcast.

All of the other stuff that you are waiting for is just an excuse.

If you have a smartphone, you could start right now.

It's that simple.

Thanks for listening to Throwing it Back | JRP DAILY 280 | JUSTINRP Podcast

Welcome back folks!!

This week we had to record the episode a little on the fly... so we didn't get much preparation done in advance...

That being said though, we still did what we could to make it interesting... and if I had to say so myself... we didn't do that bad of a job.

Since we are now in a new studio, and starting to do more in-person interviews and such, we thought we would take this opportunity to let you guys in on our full studio set up.

If you've ever wanted to get your own podcast on all of the major streaming platforms, or start your own YouTube channel of just about any variety... SOMETHING in this episode should help you out.

And as always, if you have any questions about our setup, or anything logistical, then let us know IN THE COMMENTS.

Putting something like this together really isn't that hard. You just have to want it, and to reach out for help when you need it.

Happy Podcasting!!!

Thanks for listening to Long Form Podcasts; Yay or Nay? | JRP DAILY 277 | JUSTINRP Podcast

Teegan is up this week on JRP DAILY.

Teegan is a friend of ours that is living in that time right after college, so I decided to take the opportunity to ask him about what life is like out of school.

The answers will either be a real surprise to you, or not a surprise at all.

We'll get into his football career, business knowledge, and even some other fascinating tidbits.

Believe it or not, this is probably one of the more insightful interviews to date. It's just a matter of seeing who can make it through to the end.

Oh... and don't forget to tell us what your favorite dinosaur is down below.

Thanks.
