5. I am reading through the Gospels again and came across this passage I did not understand. Matthew 12:43-45 43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” The passage speaks of the return of an unclean spirit. What did Jesus mean by this? - Ryan Welch

6.Patience is a difficult subject for most non-believers. They don’t believe because they don’t wait to see God's promises fulfilled. How can a Christian help encourage those to not lose faith/hope in the waiting season of patiences with the Lord?

The month's theme is faithfulness, so take a listen and explore with Pastor Adam & Jessica as they dive deep into the history of our monthly scripture, the origins of Easter, and much more!

Questions: 

1. We know Paul was a man of great faith (he wrote just about half the New Testament!) During Easter Sunday service on April 9th you yourself brought up an “Ask Adam” question… in Corinthians Paul refers to written scriptures - which scriptures is he referring to? Did Paul draw from the written Word at the time in building “the faith”?
2. If faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains, is someone that has strong faith but some doubt the same?
3. I’ve been curious about this passage in Matthew 16:24. Jesus told his disciples, “if anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.” Since this is before Jesus was crucified, what did he mean by “Take up his cross”? Was this a common saying in this time that the disciples would have understood what it meant? Was it a prophetic statement of Him knowing his near future? Or does it not refer to the crucifixion at all?
4. We were watching The Passion on Good Friday, and when we got to the point where Jesus needed help carrying the cross my daughter asked me, “Mom - what does this say about our faith, that Jesus needed help carrying the cross - when he asks us to point blank take up our crosses and follow him? If Jesus needed human help carrying the cross - wouldn’t this indicate that we humans cannot carry our own crosses, is this a contradiction?
5. In Revelation 20 (Great White Throne of Judgement), the passage describes Death and Hades being personified entities, then being thrown into the lake of fire. Are they entities AND places at the same time? If so, is that why Jesus was able to defeat “death, hell, and the grave”?
6. As our activation this month challenges us to be faithful by spending time with God and in our word, I am curious. How do you study the Bible beyond just reading it?
7. Is there any actual proof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ? How could something so impactful come across in the natural as so vague? How are we supposed to build our faith/faithfulness without physical evidence?
8. We know that with the modern translations of the Bible, most simply rephrase scripture to a common day phraseology - however, recently we learned there are some versions with entire scriptures removed? Is this true? What does this say about our “faith” ? Does this make some churches more faithful than others?

10. My family and I were talking about the parable of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar. Jesus speaks of the rich man being in hades and Lazarus being in Abraham’s bosom. We couldn’t determine if this is heaven and hell or a different place because Christ hadn’t been crucified and liberated the dead yet? It speaks of a great chasm and the rich man can see Lazarus. Is this how death use to be before Jesus or was this all symbolic? - Ryan and the Welch family

In this month’s episode of Ask Adam we ask Pastor Adam Bernal about Self Control… here are some of the questions we “Asked Adam”

1. How can I stop my negative thinking?

If Adam and Eve failed in the area of self control under the BEST of circumstances - does this mean the Holy Spirit was not yet available to them… if not, does that mean that now that we HAVE the Holy Spirit available to us, we could now be considered  “superhuman” and legitimately all things are possible? In this month’s episode of Ask Adam we ask Pastor Adam Bernal about love… here are some of the questions we “Asked Adam”

Questions: 

1.How did you get your start in ministry?

2.Why was the Song of Solomon a book in the Bible?

3.Were love marriages prominent in antiquity or were they mostly arranged (i.e. Mary and Joseph)?

4.Can you explain the different words for “love” in Greek? And how is God's love (agape) different? 

5.Aren’t we supposed to display God’s kind of love? If that is AGAPE - is it even possible? 

6.My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. John 15:12-14 Do you see this as a prophetic statement by Jesus, referring to His own crucifixion and also the coming persecutions of the Disciples? 

7.Have you ever met someone during your missionary travels that has lived or exemplified 1 Corinthians 13 in their lives despite being injured or berated?

8.Have you heard it said that out of the fruits of the Spirit that love was placed first and self-control placed last as bookends to hold together the other 7, it takes love & self-control in order to achieve those in between. ?

9.In Galatians the Apostle Paul is trying to correct the teaching that has crept in the church by the Judaizers to push the new converts to follow the mosaic law and be circumcised in order to be accepted by God. Why did Paul circumcise Timothy as stated in the book of Acts? Wouldn’t his action confuse the new converts? We see him being so bold and going up against others, even Peter, why would he then cave into the Jews to have Timothy circumcised? 

10.Is it possible to love someone else after falling in love with someone else? 

11.Are soul ties a form of love? Can they be broken?
