In September 2008, 17 year old Brittani Marcell was brutally attacked in her home. Brittani’s mom came home to find a man standing over Brittani holding a shovel and her daughter was horribly beaten. The man was able to escape through a window, however, he cut himself on the broken window glass and left behind one tiny drop of blood. Due to the severity of the attack, Brittani lost all memory of the horrific events that day. The case went cold for years, until Brittani underwent Hypnotherapy and  remembered a name…..

In November 1998, 23 year old University student Katarzyna Zowada disappears without a trace from Krakow, Poland.  A couple of months later, a tugboat on the Vistula River makes an unexpected stop when something gets stuck inside the propeller.
What they pull out of the propeller was so gruesome, it rocked the country to its core and would take Police on a hunt that spanned over 2 decades....

One of the few cults led by a female was known as “The Family” founded by Anne Hamilton-Byrne in 1963 in Melbourne, Australia. "The Family" combined Christian, Hindu, and New Age ideas with the use of psychedelic drugs and the belief that doomsday was near. Anne and her followers raised children they felt would be leaders in the next world. Belle Gunness loved her men, but not nearly as much as she loved her money. Peek into the grisly crimes of the Indiana "Black Widow" serial killer that lured men from all over with her "triflers need not apply" classified ads. Her head is still missing to this day...but it is speculated that it may not even be her body to begin with. Commonly referred to as 'corpses in the pig pen,' this unsolved case is one of the most disturbing yet.

 On January 17, 2008, 21 year old mother of two, Denise Amber Lee, was abducted from her home around 2PM, with her children present, and would be dead by the end of the day. Five 911 calls were made, including one by Denise herself. The daughter of a police detective, Denise was able to take her abductor's phone and in a heart wrenching exchange provided details to the dispatcher while making it appear that she was speaking to her kidnapper. Another call came in from Jane Kowalski while in traffic, who heard screaming coming from the car next to her. Terrible failures were found in the way the 911 operators handled Jane's call.....

Lauren Agee was a 21-year-old student from Tennessee who was found dead in a cove off Centre Hill Lake after attending Wakefest on the weekend of July 25th to 27th 2015. The official story is that, after consuming a large quantity of alcohol while partying, Lauren fell off the cliffside where she was camping with friends and into the water below. But friends, family and consumers of true crime believe something much darker happened…and so do I.

In September 1992, 19 year old Jennifer Asbenson survived an attempted rape and murder from an elusive serial killer, Andrew Urdiales. What she didn't know was that he had already killed three women before her between 1986-1989 and would go on to murder 5 more women. Urdiales was arrested in 1997 and Jennifer Asbenson testified in three different trials against Urdiales and spoke for all 8 women that didn’t get away. She was the voice of  Robbin Brandley,   Julie McGhee,  Mary Ann Wells, Tammie Erwin, Denise Maney, Laura Ulyaki, Cassandra Corum and Lynn Huber.

This hometown case was sent in to us by our long time listener and friend of the podcast, Jessica. Many of those involved at the time were minors and because of this, it was not highly publicized. This episode contains Explicit Content. 
Jessica grew up in Milwaukee, WI and in the summer of 2000 began seeing Missing Person flyers of her classmate 15-year-old Angela Velzka-Lawrence. This was before social media so sadly, even though they were living in the same neighborhood, this is how she realized she was gone. Angela's mother unknowingly knocked at the house of her daughter's murderer, and asked if they had seen her. The mother answered the door and replied straight to her face that she hadn't...although she knew every detail of her death because her son had killed her. But it wasn't just one dark household holding secrets. There were 13 people that knew Angela was in a shallow grave and that there was no hope of finding her alive.

When Ashley Pond disappeared on a chilly morning in January 2002 on her way to the bus stop, the investigators first thought she had run away, given her home life had not been a good one. As Police and FBI were investigating her disappearance, Ashley’s friend, Miranda Gaddis, also disappeared on the same walk to the bus stop. The town feared a predator was on the loose, but it turned out he was much, much closer to home.
