The Bible provides us with details, not just about Israel’s history, but about the history of many of the nations of the ancient near east. And one detail it gives is that the Edomites had kings before Israel did.

Now some archaeologists argued that Edom couldn’t have had kings because they thought it was just a simple, tribal society. But no one thinks that anymore because of the amazing discovery of evidence for a massive copper-mining operation in Edom. Such an operation would’ve required technological know-how. So, no, Edom was not just a simple society.

In other words, yet again: archaeology confirmed the Bible!
