  • Avoid Mindless Eating And How To Make A Hunger Chart
As a nutrition coach, a lot of my clients struggle with losing weight. Through our chats and check ins a lot of them come to realize they often eat out of habit, boredom or stress. This undoubtedly makes it a lot harder to make and maintain their progress which is why I ask a lot of them to create their own hunger charts to use as a check in before eating. It isn't about restricting food, but instead making sure that when you are reaching for food it's out of hunger and not habit or boredom.

  • Intuitive Eating Can Be Tough
I like to think I'm someone that eats intuitively. But I also think I use a lot of information from tracking macros to, "eat intuitively". And that prior to tracking macros, my "intuition" about what I could and should eat was greatly impacted by things I'd been told or read...even if they weren't quite true.
Does anyone remember when a lot of us were eating nuts to get protein in? I think this is the perfect example of how our eating can be impacted by something we hear. And while i've got nothing against nuts. PB is my jam (lol!). After tracking macros I learned that while nuts do have some protein, they're a better source of healthy fats than protein. Sure I can get 30 grams of protein from peanut butter...but I'm going to have to eat 600-700 calories to do it.

  • 3 Healthy Things to Try if You Don't Want to Count Calories
Counting calories and tracking macros isn't for everyone! Especially, if you've struggled with disordered eating or are trying to heal your relationship with food.
While I do think tracking can be helpful for a lot of people, I don't think it's something that's sustainable forever. I personally use the knowledge I have from tracking every day to make informed decisions about my eating. But I also use strategies like above to help me maintain my weight and include foods I love regularly.
