A year ago if you were to tell me I’d have JW Kohlmeyer and Caden Merritt on a podcast to talk about God I would have said you’re insane. Again, the transformational power of God.

These two studs are both committed to play division one baseball but reflecting on the episode, we hardly even mentioned baseball! That is exactly what I love about these guys… their identity is not in baseball anymore, it is in the Lord. They do not let a sport define who they are as people, sons, brothers, teammates, etc. Both of them have grown an incremental amount over these past couple of months.

I genuinely appreciate them taking a step of faith and joining the pod. Both have been outspoken recently and it is incredible to watch from afar. They are leading a revival amongst northern Virginia high schools and surrounding communities alongside Preston Conder (Quarterbacks coach at Gainesville H.S.) who has done a tremendous job in mentoring young men and women in the area.

God is alive and moving!

Caden had Proverbs 12:25 that reads “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” Caden opened up about his battle against anxiety which is something I am sure is not easy for him to talk about publicly but I believe the Lord will use him in mighty ways to help others find peace in knowing and trusting the Lord!

J Dub’s verse was 1 Thessalonians 5:15 that says “See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.”

This week I had on someone that has been a true friend and mentor in my life these past several years, Mr. Trey Haddock. I met the Haddock family before ever stepping on campus at ECU through my best friend Zach Agnos. Trey’s youngest son, Reid, is the biggest ECU baseball fan on the planet so I quickly built a relationship with the Haddock family.

What I believe is so special to me, is seeing the transformation that Trey has had since first meeting him back in 2021. Truly, he is an example of the transformational power that God holds. As we discussed in the episode, after he joined our small group in 2024, his transformation began in himself and it has carried over into every area of his life… including his marriage, his relationship with his kids, how he parents, etc.

Trey has multiple favorite verses and they are always changing based on the season of his life, but for today’s episode he chose Romans 5:1-5 that says “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

On today’s episode we had Brayden Gault! This was a great conversation with someone who I didn’t know that closely in high school, yet always respected his work ethic and his respect for others. There was always something different about him that I could not figure out but now looking back I see that it was the Holy Spirit.

Brayden is a member of the 1,000 point club for Battlefield men’s basketball, he went on to play college ball for a bit before retiring and pursuing his relationship with Christ!

As we discuss in this episode, Brayden is facing some trials right now but his perspective on how the Lord’s hand is in it all is nothing short of amazing. What an encouraging Word that Brayden gives for us all!

Brayden’s verse(s) of the week came from 1 John 4:18-19 that says “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.”

A beautiful reminder for everyone seeking a love for Christ, His love for us is immeasurable and undeniable!

I promise you this episode was better than the Super Bowl! Blake is someone I look up to for his downright obedience to Christ, for his willingness to say, “not my will, Lord, but yours,” for his perspective on life, and for how he treats others.

It is rare to find someone who is so committed to excellence in all that they do in their life, yet it can be found in Blake. I can firmly stand on the statement that Blake was the best Director of Baseball Operations, yet when the Lord had called him to be more involved with his growing family, Blake could no longer wrestle with God. He resigned after the 2024 baseball season and is now working a job that allows him to spend more time with God and family! A big shoutout to his wife Sarah as well, Graham (their son), and their baby to be born here in a few short weeks! Congratulations!

Blakes verse(s) of the week were from Psalm 37:3-4 which says “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Yup I’d say that sums up Blake! Tune into to hear his perspective on what this verse means to him!

This episode was awesome. Kyle Canestra and Beau Curtis are some of my closest friends since I first met them 10+ years ago. It has been incredible seeing their individual relationships grow with the Lord. The time they put into getting in the Word, showing up for Bible study, and staying consistent in prayer is admirable and again has been a pleasure to watch from afar. Extremely proud of these guys!

What started as us three in a Bible study back in September has now grown to eight of us from high school. We talked about it in this episode and I may mention almost every episode but the importance of joining a small group is pivotal in growing in your walk with the Lord! My two friends here are prime examples of this, as well as the others apart of the group.

Today, 2022 2nd round draft pick for the Toronto Blue Jays joined the show and it was an absolute blast! Tucker is one of my closest friends since joining the organization and we have helped one another grow in our walk since the moment we met! Tuck is as down to earth as they come, he puts God first in all that he does, you can feel the Holy Spirit around him, and he just is someone that you want to surround yourself with.

Tucker’s verse of the week was Colossians 3:23 that says “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for working for the Lord and not for human masters.”

This verse is also one of my favorites and reminds me that WHATEVER I am doing, I am going to do it the best possible way I know how.

On today’s episode we are joined by my former neighbor from my time growing up in Huntington Beach, California, Kristy Geloso. As you can see from the title, Kristy is distinguished in the medical field. Although it wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies, she continued to depend on the Lord and He is using her now in mighty ways to grow the Kingdom!

This was a special episode for me personally because I had the chance to reconnect with someone from my childhood that I spent so much time with. Her husband, Rob, and son, Mason, were apart of our family during our time in SoCal.

Last week I was fortunate enough to fly out there to see them for the first time in over 5 years! We had a blast catching up and what was even more cool was getting the opportunity to go to Mariners Church with them in Newport Beach.

Big Chuck is an inspiration to me and we helped one another grow throughout our time at ECU. He faced plenty of adversity there, while he just continued to persevere and move forward. The Lord used him in mighty ways, as he helped lead the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, brought ten of his teammates to get baptized, and served as one of the best teammates in the locker room. ECU baseball was left better because of him and who he was through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He is marrying his best friend, Jenna, this year so make sure you give him a big congratulations!

Charlies verse of the week, Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” This verse aligns beautifully with his one word for the year as well which is Abide!

On January 4, 2025 I showed up to Run With Christ (RWC) D.C. to see my high school friends, Beau Curtis and Kyle Canestra. They were aware of the knee pain that I have lived with for over the past three years and said that they understood why if I didn’t want to show up. We had been trying to connect in person for quite some time so I put my bum knee problems aside and decided to run the three miles that freezing cold Saturday morning just for them.

What I didn’t know was that after the run, I would be healed of all knee pain and leave with a powerful testimony. Praise God!

Kyle and I finished our 3.1 mile run and were getting ready to head over to the local coffee shop to warm up and share fellowship with other runners that were there that day.

There was about 10 people left when out of the corner of my eye I see a lady walk around the group and stand right next to me.

The lady (Frankie), asked if anybody’s knee needed healing. This was it. This was the moment God would heal my knee.

But was it? That thought crept into my mind, all the doubt, the unbelief. Sure I have heard of miracles or seen them on YouTube, but could that ever even be possible for me? These were the thoughts racing through my mind even in the middle of the prayer. I wanted to believe so badly, I wanted to have no doubt in God, yet it was all still there.

It wasn’t until in the middle of it I felt my knee get super heavy, like there was a weight in it, and then all of a sudden it all left and began to feel weightless.

That is when every single doubt, unbelief, shame, fear, worry, etc. was put to sleep. Ever.

What I experienced on Saturday truly brings my faith to a whole new level! What I believed to be faith for me, was replaced by an unwavering testimony to the Lord and Savior of the world, Jesus Christ!

This podcast may have been started solely for this episode, I’m not sure. But what I can tell you is that I am now living for Christ and Christ only. I am ready to truly be an unashamed Follower of Christ.

I pray this episode brings healing, belief, and hope into the lives of many because God truly sees you. And He loves you more than anything in this entire world. Believe that! God Bless!

On today’s episode we have Tanner Thach, UNC Wilmington first baseman, join the show. Tanner is a phenomenal baseball player, in fact, you will probably hear his name called in the first round of this year’s MLB draft. But Tanner is a better human being than he is baseball player. That is what I find most admirable in this 20 year old young man. He finds his identity in the Lord, not in being a baseball player. Not to put words into his mouth, but I am sure that Tanner could care less about being a first round draft pick, he wants to be the star player for Christ our Lord and that is it.

Tanner and I went up against one another in college as so-called “rivals” but we discussed that in today’s society, it is not me vs. you, we are on one team. JESUS’S TEAM! Amen!

Tanner’s verse of the week was from Philippians 3:13-14 that says, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
