The definition of work-ethic is the belief that hard work and diligence have a moral benefit and an inherent ability, virtue or value to strengthen character and individual abilities. It's also a principle that hard work is intrinsically virtuous or worthy of reward.
My dad instilled in me a work-ethic like no other at a very young age. If I was mowing the lawn, sweeping up scrubs on our sidewalk, cleaning the basement, training for football or whatever… I represented him and he would always want me to do the right thing and a good job. That small principle that was taught definitely made a difference with the jobs I’d worked at because several people would praise me for my incredible work-ethic.
“Hustle until you no longer have to introduce yourself!” Let’s go to work.

When you have something to aim for, it gives you direction to look to. Then your able to focus your energies on hitting the target set forth. In business, a company has a certain product or service they offer. It’s not for everyone, they are only looking for their target audience. Which is the demographic of people that are most likely interested in that product or service and willing to pay for it. Mercedes Benz is a brand known for luxury vehicles. It is available for everyone, but they are looking only for a certain group of individuals that are looking for their product and can afford it. Making a perfect match.
In life what are you aiming for? Is it to start a new career, get back in school, save $10,000 this year, pay off all your debt. When you have a target, it is specific and the more detail you are, the easier it is to obtain that goal. What does the work look like when you have a target? I’m going to take the example of saving $10,000 in one year. ($10,000 year / 12 months / 4 weeks / 7 days) That’s approximately saving $833.33 a month, $208 a week, and $30 a day. You need to evaluate how you manage your finances and pay yourself $30 dollars a day. What area can you cut back on spending that you know your wasting? List all the reasons why you want to save this amount of money. Ask yourself do I need to pick up another part-time job to reach my target? Do whatever it takes to exactly have a clear-cut plan to follow. [Ex. I make $3,703 a month after taxes or $1,851.5 bi-weekly. I pay myself first than I budget my expenses after. So, I give myself ($833.33/2) $416 to put in my saving account every two weeks.] When you plan the work next you work the plan. Let’s hit our targets.

When you look in the mirror what do you see? How do you see yourself? What images come to your mind? What are you saying about yourself?
The first part of Proverbs 23:7 states, “As a man thinketh so is he... What’s in your heart is what you are going to do. To achieve a new level of living, you have to get rid of your old ways of thinking and replace them with new thoughts. Once new dominant thoughts take root in your heart, it will bring about new actions that result in new manifestations. Now align your thinking to the way God sees you because you are fearfully and wonderful made!

Elevate yourself to another level, don’t settle for average! Be best in class. You are an eagle so there should be no reason for you to be hanging with any chickens or pigeons. You are the bird of the sky and were born to fly high. Recognize who you are, spread your wings and take flight. Separate yourself form those that are not moving in your direction to greatness.

[If you are not familiar with this story in the bible, I recommend you to read the entire chapter of Exodus or at least Exodus 13:17 – 14:31] Exodus 14:21-22 (NIV) reads, “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.”
The significant of this passage is that Moses had everything he needed to carry out the assignment the Lord has given him. In verse 15-16 ‘Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.’
God has equipped you with everything you need to be successful. You have to keep moving forward. What’s in your hand meaning, you have to use what you have been given. The rod Moses had in his hand was ordinary and he stretched it out. Getting out of his comfort zone, through his obedience God showed Himself strong by delivering the Israelites from the hand of the Egyptians. What looks normal to the eyes of man, God can use it to do extraordinary things. Don’t overlook what you have. Look how God is using my gift to inspire you. What has God commanded you to do? Keep moving forward and stretch out!

“The fortune is in the follow up,” a business term that’s so true. As an independent contractor, a market associate, and sales consultant for varies companies I would have to prospect for new clientele every day. Building rapport with individuals, collecting their names, contact information, and emails. That was the easy part. Next, I would call them twice, if no answer leave a voice message, text them, along with an email and do this several times throughout the week until I received a response. I’m sure I may have bothered a few customers but I was relentless about the follow-up. In result of this method, I usually was the top income producer. Most people don’t want to do what it takes to be on top. “The fortune is in the follow up!”
What projects have you started, what phone calls need to be made, text messages, or emails need to be sent for business or for your personal life? It’s nothing wrong with checking up on someone or something. If you dropped the ball just follow up.

As a child my curiosity wanted to dibble and dabble into everything especially when it came to playing sports. My parents’ rule was if you start something you have to finish it. My eight-grade year I wrestled and there were times I wanted to quit and because of my parents rule I made up my mind to commit to finish wrestling season. Even though the outcome may not have been what I expected, the lessons learned were priceless. I ended up doing really well and I’m glad I stuck it out. With this simple story, I use this same principle in life in regards to being committed with what I want to accomplish. Be all in.

“Never stop doing what you are doing young man!” Those were the words that made me come up with a positive theme every day. It was a beautiful Tuesday morning and I was working valet Downtown. I get paged to bring a CEO’s vehicle up to the front of the building. First, I retrieve the keys at the valet station, then take the elevators in the lobby to the basement where his car is located. Next, I drive the automobile up to the front and patiently wait with a smile for the owner to come down and get in his car. Last, I open up the driver’s door for him and say, “Have a terrific Tuesday” as he is about to head in to work.
Now lunchtime comes around and he comes back to his residency for a quick break, pulling his vehicle up to the front. I greet him again with a smile and open his door. He says, “Never stop doing what you are doing young man!” I’m not sure what he’s talking about. Then he explains, “When you said have a terrific Tuesday, your voice was ringing in my head. I got to work and started telling my employees to have a terrific Tuesday. It was like a ripple effect of a simple positive saying changing the outcome of everyone’s day.” When I heard that my mindset shifted from being a valet driver to someone that’s going to use this position as platform for speaking. You never know what you might say to make a difference in someone’s life. Have a terrific Tuesday!

We all have some kind of procedure or formula in place when accomplishing or approaching something. What is your method in living life to make every day count? How do you go about your day not knowing how it will turn out? How you do one thing is how you usually do everything. Answering these two questions gives you an idea of what your method in life consist of and where your mindset is at.
Here’s my answers:
Everyday I wake up, I look at it as an opportunity to be a blessing to someone, making a difference so that they would be inspired to live out greatness! When I inspire you, I know that I have impact in your life and know it counts as a good day to me.
Also, I choose that every day will be a great day based on this formula Jack Canfield mentioned in one of his books I read. (E + R = O) E stands for the events that happen in life that we have no control over like what the weather is going to be today, what skin color we were born with, or who your parents are, etc. R stands for your response which you have 100% control of. O stands for the outcome. So whatever event I encounter I make it up in my mind that I’m going to have positive response and the outcome will always be in my favor.
