The Auburn Tigers are once again facing the same questions that haunted them last season. On this episode, Hugh Freeze’s latest comments from the SEC teleconference take center stage. Freeze admitted Auburn must get back to running the football and even hinted at possibly shrinking the playbook. But with a loaded running back room that includes Damari Alston, Jeremiah Cobb, and the recovering Damari Robinson, the Tigers still aren’t committing to the ground game.

Last year, Freeze openly admitted that Auburn underutilized star running back Jarquez Hunter. Now, five games into 2025, Auburn fans are watching history repeat itself. Alston is seeing limited carries, Cobb is barely touching the football, and the offense feels disjointed. Even with explosive talent at wide receiver like Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson, the offense continues to sputter.

Fans are frustrated, players are angry, and Auburn’s floor is dangerously low heading into a brutal SEC stretch. Georgia looms large, Missouri and Vanderbilt look tougher than expected, and the Tigers could be staring down another disappointing finish unless the identity of this offense changes quickly.

Freeze also floated the idea of simplifying the playbook, something Auburn supposedly fixed after year one. Instead, here we are in year three with the same issues: overcomplicated reads, wasted possessions, and missed opportunities.
