Continuing the (accidental.. or maybe not so accidental) "theme" of painful conditions that Tom has been personally afflicted with, the guys cover Kidney Stones. Not only do they hear about Tom's personal story dealing with a kidney stone, but they also look at the pathophysiology of stones as well as the diagnosis techniques for kidney stones. They then wrap up the show discussing treatment options for kidney stones. In the "Story You May Have Missed", the guys discuss an interesting reaction to a sexual encounter.

Ben had a brilliant idea to associate gout with St. Patrick's Day because of drinking and corned beef that occurs in Ireland; this hypothesis was proven to be false within the first few minutes of actually talking about gout. Gout, which was once known as the "Disease of Kings" because only the rich could afford the poor diet rich in meats and alcohol. The guys cover assessment, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and Tom's own personal experience with this affliction. In "Stories You May Have Missed", the guys discuss whom is being targeted in one state as the kingpin of the opioid crisis. so get your green on, eat some corned beef and cabbage, and enjoy this episode all about gouty arthritis.

Jennifer is an EMT as well as an essential oil expert and distributor. We discuss oils versus fragrance and discuss how we should approach oils as a provider when patients are using, ingesting, or diffusing oils. Not being afraid to explore oils, the guys try peppermint oil as Jennifer walks them through ingesting and inhaling of the oil and they quickly figure out the snozzberries don't taste like snozzberries. We also cover oils and children as well as oils and pets. We then wrap up the interview with our new segment... 5 questions. Ben & Tom have been teasing a big announcement on social media for the last week and here it is. They have partnered with Helium Internet Radio to syndicate the podcast into a radio show. It will be on the Helium After Dark Station on www.heliumradio.com as well as the Helium Radio app on Thursdays pm/8 Central. You will still be able to find the podcast wherever you listen to podcasts. But because it's a new 7 figure audience we are welcoming, we wanted to do a reintroduction of ourselves and the podcast. This episode serves as that as well as a synopsis of each episode and some fun updates from past guests along the way.

Ben & Tom have Jeff back on the show to discuss Diabetes (which is why we asked him on the show in the first place). We go indepth into the pathophysiology of diabetes to truly understand the inner workings of this condition. We then discuss current and future treatment options as well. Is there a cure for Diabetes coming? We ask Jeff about that as well. Along with path through diabetes patho and treatment we also get some knowledge bombs dropped on us by Jeff in regards to congestive heart failure, lipid disorders, and clinical guidelines. Plus you'll want to hear Jeff's technique in helping to get prior authorizations approved as well. There's lots of good info in this episode. **There's an inside joke through this episode and the other episode that Jeff was on. Can you figure that out as well?** Jeff mentioned a website that he uses and it's included here. http://www.needymeds.org

At a listener suggestion, we discuss things cardiology for Valentine's Day. Ben and Tom welcome Jen, Cardiology NP, to the show. We discuss referring to cardiology, testing that needs done before sending to cardiology, and where does cardiology refer too when they need to. Broken Heart Syndrome is examined as well. We end on some weird cardiac cases that Ben, Tom, and Jen have seen in their careers. You'll likely notice that Tom sounds better and you'll hear why. We enjoyed having Jen on the show and we think you'll enjoy it as well. 4StateAPN Conference - http://4stateapn.enpnetwork.com
