The boys focus in-depth on the boys in this episode looking at vasectomies. They examine the prep, procedure, post-op, and possible complications of a vasectomy. They also discuss the stigma of vasectomies as well as the motility studies that have to be done afterwards. Both guys have now had a vasectomy with Ben's being years ago and Tom's being about 72 hours ago. There's also some new staff members on the show as the guys have hired a news desk and field reporters... while this is their first appearance we suspect it won't be their last.
In the "Story You May Have Missed", the guys look at an interesting study examining memory improvement.

So after the deeper topics of burnout and not crowdsourcing a diagnosis on social media, Ben & Tom decided to have a more fun, laughter filled episode and this did not disappoint. They looked at interesting research paper topics and published papers. If you are struggling to figure out your topic for your doctoral dissertation, perhaps this episode will give you some ideas that nothing is too crazy to research. The guys start off with some of the funnier and more innocent sounding ones before traveling down the rabbit hole of papers into the perverse and macabre. This is definitely not an episode you will want to listen to with kids in the car. ** NSFW ** as the topics cover several papers that are sexual in nature. Also because of that, the language is likely more explicit than normal episodes.

In this bonus episode, Just Some Podcast addresses the comments made by Washington State Senator Maureen Walsh while debating a bill on the senate floor. First, she made reference to nurses talking out of both sides of their mouths wanting 12 hour shifts but complaining about being tired. Second, she stated that nurses in critical access hospital spend a large portion of their day playing cards. We address these statements and discuss it more at length in this first bonus episode. We would implore those in Washington state to take this matter seriously and voice their concerns directly to their legislators.
If you want to reach out to Sen. Walsh, her office number is 360-786-7630.

A frequently asked question from students and new practitioners is "What resources do you use?". So Ben & Tom decided to discuss the resources they use in clinic. Those resources include books, websites, and apps. Links should be in the show notes below. In the "Story You May Have Missed", the guys look at an interesting way one area is trying to contain the measles outbreak. The episode ends with some tough love from the guys. There has been an increasing trend of NPs crowd sourcing a diagnosis on social media and Ben passionately talks about why this needs to stop. Some say that he channels his inner Tom-ness in this rant about NP groups on social media, being "bullied", and crowd sourcing a diagnosis.

Continuing the (accidental.. or maybe not so accidental) "theme" of painful conditions that Tom has been personally afflicted with, the guys cover Kidney Stones. Not only do they hear about Tom's personal story dealing with a kidney stone, but they also look at the pathophysiology of stones as well as the diagnosis techniques for kidney stones. They then wrap up the show discussing treatment options for kidney stones. In the "Story You May Have Missed", the guys discuss an interesting reaction to a sexual encounter.
