Here’s my 12-string fingerstyle instrumental arrangement of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Life by the Drop."

For this arrangement, I’m tuning the 12-string guitar down one whole step from standard tuning: D–G–C–F–A–D. The lower tuning gives the 12-string a deep, loose, resonant quality that works beautifully with this kind of raw, stripped-down blues.

Here’s an excerpt from my latest YouTube livestream concert, covering Led Zeppelin’s “Going to California.”

For this arrangement, I’m playing in the key of D using an Open G6 tuning (D–G–D–G–B–E). This tuning lets me keep those open bass notes ringing underneath while I fret the melody on top—one of my favorite approaches for arranging songs for solo acoustic guitar.
