Gwen Stefani once said in a song “I ain’t no hollaback girl”. On this episode of the pod, we have Erin Philbeck. It would be a lie if Erin wrote a song that included the lyric “I ain’t no Philbeck girl”, as that’s her name. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your opinions) we’ll leave the singing for Gwen. As for what Erin does (and did), she’s a Ballard High grad, a Western Washington grad, currently teaches Spanish at Robert Eagle Staff Middle School, is the track coach there, and she’s commonly (mis?)perceived as a bold, opinionated person with the etiquette of a “southern gentleman” (her own words). During this discussion on weather, Dani went on a 2 hour tangent that included their current and past experiences with being a non-binary person, what queer really means to them, eating disorders, anxiety issues, an extraordinary knowledge of horoscopes, what they like about acting/singing, a couple other surprises I won’t give away, and what they see on the horizon that keeps them seeking joy.

The brand "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" got its name when the husband of one of the company's secretaries sampled it and proclaimed such words. The things you learn when you read podcast posts, am I right? Anywho, Imani joined the pod this week, and we talked about all sorts of things...including how she hasn't had a good night's sleep in years, her love for words and writing, her variety of experiences associated with race, some of her low moments in life, and of course, some of the highs. Are you a fan of Tillamook cheese? (Regardless of your answer,) nice! Coincidentally, on the podcast this week was Jack Tillmann (that’s a name very similar to Tillamook, yet he’s from Canada and Tillamook is headquartered in Oregon) and Sydney Melkerson. The two of them, and I (thank god they included me), discuss everything from a dick (i.e. penis) inside a pizza box to therapy to marriage (duh, they’re engaged, get with the program) to Justin Trudeau to improv to dealing with loneliness to what they enjoy about life. Oh, and if you’re that type of person who doesn’t like an appetizer before their main course / skips the intro credits on The Office / disregards The Hobbit and goes straight to The Fellowship of the Ring, skip to 18:00 for the “meaty discussion”.

The second Parrish family member joins the pod and shares stories about cooking in fine-dining from Seattle to Paris to Spain, making cookies at age 4, and how he learned that "if something's worth doing, it's worth overdoing" (let the record show, that word is 'overdoing', not 'overcooking').
