OpenAI has introduced a new " Canvas " feature for its ChatGPT platform. This feature allows users to collaborate more effectively with ChatGPT on writing and coding projects than traditional chat. Canvas provides a dedicated window where users can directly edit and revise their work, while ChatGPT provides inline feedback and suggestions based on the entire project context.
Canvas also includes helpful shortcuts for tasks like adjusting writing length, debugging code, and adding comments. The company has trained GPT-4o to collaborate more effectively, explicitly focusing on targeted edits, rewriting documents, and providing precise feedback. Canvas is currently in early beta for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, and it will be rolled out to other users.

The episode discusses the effectiveness of banning ransomware insurance to combat ransomware attacks. The author explores both sides of the argument, featuring the perspectives of cyber security experts, government officials who support the ban, and those who oppose it. It is argued that a ban on insurance payouts could deter corporations from paying ransoms, thus cutting off the financial incentive for ransomware gangs.
However, critics argue that a ban would be ineffective in combating the root cause of ransomware attacks, which is the widespread lack of digital security. They contend that a more practical approach would be to focus on improving cybersecurity practices and encouraging the development of more secure technology. The article explores the potential consequences of both a ban and a focus on strengthening digital resilience, showcasing the complexities surrounding this global cybersecurity issue.

Horowitz discusses the shrinking software spending market and how macroeconomic uncertainty, post-COVID SaaS consolidation, and the early stages of gen AI adoption contribute to this trend.
Horowitz offers strategies for finding pockets of opportunity, such as targeting companies preparing for future-gen AI disruption and emphasizing tangible value and ROI for non-gen AI solutions.
Additionally, Horowitz highlights the importance of product roadmaps demonstrating gen AI integration and the need to engage channel partners to reach customers. The authors conclude by reminding sellers that the current market conditions are temporary, and those who adapt and find ways to win business in this challenging environment will be well-positioned for future success.

This episode is about the new open-source project called Swarm, which OpenAI developed. Swarm is an experimental educational framework designed to help users understand multi-agent orchestration.
Swarm is not intended for production use and focuses on making the coordination and execution of agents lightweight, controllable, and easily testable. The framework uses two fundamental concepts: Agents, which encapsulate instructions and tools, and Handoffs, which allow agents to transfer conversations to other agents.
This makes building complex and scalable systems possible while avoiding a steep learning curve. The documentation provides a detailed overview of Swarm's features, including agents, functions, streaming, evaluations, and utilities.
