Sudarshan Faakir (1934–2008) was a distinguished Indian Urdu poet and lyricist, celebrated for his ability to blend deep philosophical themes with simple, everyday imagery. Hailing from Jalandhar, Punjab, he was one of the few prominent non-Muslim Urdu poets from East Punjab, bridging the gap between traditional literary circles and popular culture.
He is perhaps best known for his long and successful association with the ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, a partnership that produced some of the most iconic tracks in the genre.
Ye Daulat Bhi Le Lo more commonly known as Kaghaz Ki Kashti is probably his most famous work sung by Jagjit Singh and featured in the 1987 Mahesh Bhatt film Aaj, the song which became an anthem for childhood nostalgia.
