In chapter 14 of the Book of Acts, we hear how Paul and Barnabas continue their journey to spread the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth. Their journey took them to the city of Lystra where Paul found himself in a LOT of trouble. His message made some of the leaders there very, very angry. But we will hear how not even angry crowds could stop the spread of the gospel.

On today’s episode we’ll hear how Herod, the evil King of Judea, hated the early church and the message of Jesus. He didn’t want to share attention with anyone. So much so, that he did horrible things to Jesus’ followers including throwing Peter in jail…again! We’ll also hear about how God dealt with Herod, and trust me…it's…surprising.

Acts chapter 8 tells us the story of the spread of the Gospel through a man named Phillip. He meets Simon the Magician, who thought he knew God but didn’t really. He also talks with a man from Ethiopia and tells him that the book he is reading is about Jesus!
These stories show us that even though followers of Jesus were driven from Jerusalem, it actually served to further God's plan, to bring the good news to Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Nothing, not even death, can stop God's plans.

In Acts chapters 6 and 7, we hear the remarkable story of Stephen, a brave man chosen as a deacon to help the rapidly growing church. Stephen not only assisted the needy but also preached the good news of Jesus, which angered a group called the Freedmen. Despite facing false accusations and hostility, Stephen boldly recounted God's promises and the arrival of Jesus, ultimately leading to his martyrdom. This tragic event highlights the paradox of how God's kingdom grows through suffering and sacrifice.
