As a follow up to “RE: Empowerment” I talk about leader-follower vs leader-leader structure. I saw these dichotomies in every professional role I’ve ever held. David Marquet helped me figure out a simple way to articulate them.

I use 5M2L segments to provide simple talks about leadership, processes, talent strategy, recruiting, books, or other value-added lessons I’ve learned lately.

The word “empowerment” has its place. However, I believe its been overused in recent years. In many ways, in the wrong context within business culture and leadership teachings. I will explain that a bit in this segment, with some supporting info from David Marquet's "Turn the Ship Around!"

Jeremiah is a pillar of a man in the Kansas City Region.  He is determined to inspire employees to freedom, by teaching them how to be entrepreneurs. In his family, everyone is an entrepreneur.  Even his children have begun building their own businesses…whether they are selling homemade brownies, providing paid pet-care to their neighbors, or learning the family lawn sprinkler business, they are learning to provide value to others (beyond the lemonade stand).
