  • Managing Overwhelm as a Mom with Jamie Erickson & The Case for Miracles with Lee Strobel

    Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of ‘Prosperity’ with a discussion about how God promises prosperity to those who follow His word and abide in Him. We then turned to the phone lines to ask our listeners the question, “How has the Word of God prospered you?” We then had Jamie Erickson join us to discuss how overwhelm can be self-inflicted in the lives of women and moms, and how, with God, we can learn to manage that overwhelm. Jamie loves to encourage and equip moms around the world through her Mom to Mom podcast. She is also the Founder of The Unlikely Homeschool, her nationally popular education blog that includes resources and tips. He has also written several books, including “Holy Hygge: Creating a Place for People to Gather and the Gospel to Grow.” We also had Lee Strobel join us to discuss miracles and faith, and then he spoke about his upcoming movie, “The Case for Miracles”, which will be in theaters for a limited time, from December 15-18. Lee is an atheist-turned Christian and the former award-winning legal editor of the Chicago Tribune. He was a journalist for 14 years at the Chicago Tribune and other newspapers. Lee’s spiritual journey was depicted in the 2017 award-winning theatrical motion picture, ‘The Case for Christ.’ He is also the Founding Director for the Lee Strobel Center for Evangelism and Applied Apologetics at Colorado Christian University.   • Call of Hope: The Goat Project with Dr. Samuel Naaman & Worry and Provision with Dr. Winfred Neely

    Today, on Karl and Crew, we kicked off our weekly theme of “Prosperity” with discussions about seeking God’s kingdom before worldly possessions. As followers of Christ, we are to serve God first and remove any idols or false gods that take precedence in our lives. We also turned to the phone lines to ask our listeners to share how God redirected their affection from money and its providence to seeking the kingdom of God first. We then had Dr. Samuel Naaman join us to discuss Call of Hope, a ministry that reaches Muslims for Christ, and their initiative to gift children in Africa with a goat and the gospel. Dr. Naaman is a Professor of Intercultural Studies at the Moody Bible Institute. He is also the Vice President of Call of Hope. Then we heard from our listeners as they told us about their most unique gift from someone and how God used it. We then had Dr. Winfred Neely join us to discuss trusting in God’s promise of prosperity and abstaining from worry. Dr. Winfred Neely is the newly retired Vice President and Academic Dean of Moody Theological Seminary. He will stay on as Adjunct Professor of Biblical Interpretation, Old Testament, and Biblical Preaching at Moody Bible Institute.     Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme, "Good News."  What does it mean to be immersed in the Holy Spirit?  Our scripture reference was Mark 1:12-13.  Dr. Andrew Schmutzer was our special guest.  He is a professor of Bible at Moody Bible Institute and a writer.  Dr. Schmutzer offered clarity into the connection between baptism and the Holy Spirit.  As we head into the Thanksgiving break, listeners shared what they are most thankful for this season.  We also welcomed Kelli Worrall, Professor of Communications at MBI.  She shared details about a beautiful Christmas tradition at Moody called Candlelight Carols.  It's a fun, faithful experience for all ages on December 5th and 6th.

    Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme, "Good News."  The good news of the Gospel without true biblical repentance isn't really good news at all.  Moody Bible Institute Professor, Dr. Eric Redmond, helped us unpack what true repentance looks like and understand the fruit of true repentance.  He authored "Say It" and "The Complete Work of Christ in John 17:4."  We heard inspiring words on Thanksgiving from MBI Professor, Dr. Bill Thrasher.  How do we cultivate a heart of gratitude all year long?  Finally, we welcomed Kelli Worrall, Professor of Communications at MBI.  She shared details about a beautiful Christmas tradition at Moody called Candlelight Carols.  It's a fun, faithful experience for all ages on December 5th and 6th.

Jed is also a speaker and author.  We highlighted his book, "Fake Christianity: 10 Traps of an Inauthentic Faith.  We also talked about holiday planning with Cindi Ferrini.  She founded Creative Management.  Cindi is also a marriage coach, speaker, and author, including the book, "Tis the Season: The Agape Family Holiday Organizer".

    On this Freedom Friday, we had Asheritah Ciuciu join us to talk about how to reroute distracting thoughts during quiet time to focus more on the Lord. Asheritah is a national speaker, bestselling author, and founder of One Thing Alone Ministries, an online ministry that helps overwhelmed women find joy in Jesus. She has also written several books, including “Unwrapping the Name of Jesus: An Advent Journal.” We also had Dr. John Mabus join us to discuss how God receives us when we come to Him for help. We turned to Mark 10:46-52, where we see how, when Blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus for sight, He received Bartimaeus and gave him sight. Dr. Mabus is an Associate Professor of Applied Theology and Church Ministries at Moody Bible Institute. For the past 14 years, Dr. Mabus has served as a Navy Chaplain, sharing the gospel and caring for military personnel. We then turned to the phone lines to ask listeners, “What pressing need in your life has revealed your ultimate need for Jesus?” Then we had R. York Moore join us to discuss how we know God really loves us. York is a gifted speaker, revivalist, and abolitionist. He is also the President, CEO, and National Evangelist of the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO). He has also authored several books, including “Seen. Known.
