When Craig Cooper and Walker Hayes met, Walker was an alcoholic atheist reeling from the backlash of a failed music career and Craig was a discouraged church planter. Their unlikely friendship and some of life’s hardest hits led Walker to share with his good buddy, “Craig, I believe it. All of it.” He gave his life to Jesus.

The two turned their story into the book Glad You’re Here.  If Glad You’re Hereis the hands and feet of Jesus, Craig’s new devotional, Overflowing Mercies is the heart.

In this NOISY world, God’s heart beats hard with love and mercy. But how can God share His heart with us when He doesn’t have our attention? Overflowing Mercies is a doorway to giving God our attention so he can show us His heart.

Also, in this episode Shawna reflects on how, during Holy Week, the people there turned so quickly from shouting “Hosanna!” to shouting “Crucify Him!” From laying down their cloaks to stripping Jesus of his. How could they be so fickle?

If you’ve ever been wronged, then you’ve been challenged to be like Jesus. In Philippians 2:5-8 we are clearly commanded to forgive like Jesus & even to have the same mindset as Jesus in our relationships with one another.

Perry shares, “Last Saturday was a slog, feeling overwhelmed with my ‘to do’ list, feeling discouraged, it was like a death. And then Sunday I experienced resurrection as God rescued me from my self-absorption.”

During worship on Palm Sunday Shawna saw an image in her mind of the resurrection. But this time it was from a completely different perspective than any other she’d envisioned before. She shares what she saw and Jesus’ invitation to walk away from the way of death to enter the way of life with Jesus.

Perry shares about his suffering friend who feels like he’s fatalistically determined to be kept out of God’s family. And shares, “I think there’s some of that in me, maybe in you.” It’s a conversation about saving faith, and the assurance that were in the family to stay!

Shawna just finished reading the Torah and she is blown away at understanding afresh how this life, from birth to death, is our journey through the wilderness. And the deep assurance that, as followers of Jesus, we will enter the promised land.

There are at least 5 million children of sex workers in India. These kids grow up surrounded by drugs and prostitution because their moms are trapped in the sex trade.

One moment Perry didn’t know he was a Christian, didn’t believe he was in God’s forever family, and the next moment he knew! What happened in between was God speaking, “Let there be light!” to his heart.

Then Daniel a Perry and Shawna listener shares his darkness to light story, he had no money, was lost in Chicago, was at the end of himself. And Kate shares hers, she was into Wicca, addicted to drugs, suicidal.

Author, Speaker and Coach, Becky Beresford, had been believing the lies we’ve all believed. Lies that closely resemble the truth but leave out the most important part of it.

In She Believed HE Could, So She Did, Becky invites us to journey toward freedom as she dismantles the most common lies promoted by our culture. And she counters the misconceptions with gospel-rooted truth:  Believe in Yourself God, Speak Your the Truth, Follow Your Heart King, You Be You His.

Then, Shawna waited 6 years for her son’s breakthrough healing. And Perry has been waiting decades for a breakthrough that has not yet come. So he keeps on asking and keeps on trusting.

Does the word “accountability” make you cringe? It doesn’t have to. God calls us to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Living that out has way more to do with encouragement than judgement. It could be fun!

Perry’s friends Jim and Shirley went to the coffee shop, sat down in 2 of 3 soft chairs and waited for someone to sit in the 3rd. Someone they hoped would be open to the gospel. What they didn’t expect was that person to mock them!

Last, when we’re going through it, it’s really tempting to believe that it’s never going to get better. Shawna shares how there were times in her recovery from her foot surgery when she fell into despair, wondering if healing would come and what encouraged her at that time.

Maybe you’re better at hiding your emotions than Shawna is. But even if you are, we leak. What’s weighing on our hearts finds its way into our relationships, our work, our days. Jesus not only knows what we’re going through, He is the way through it.

The Bible’s not a book of rules, or of heroes to emulate. It’s the story of a Young Prince who crosses all worlds to come and save us. It’s a story that shouts: “God’s not mad at you!” and how that’s even possible when he has every reason to be mad at us.

Our best intentions unfortunately don’t always lead to the best outcomes. Shawna opens up about the realities of all that distracts us from the truth that we’re loved more than we can possibly imagine. To live loved we need to be reminded as often as possible of who and whose we are.

If you’re feeling worn out, weak, burned out, poured out, if you feel like you’ve got nothing left to give, Perry can relate. And he points us to one of the Bible’s Mount Everest promises of God to give us strength.

When we sin we feel the weight of hurting God’s heart, and often the shame of it tells us that we did is who we are. What if, instead, that pain led us to gratitude for what God has done for us and reminded us that we’re not defined by our own mistakes but by what Jesus did for us on the cross?

A fireman was being interviewed for his heroic work in rushing into a building engulfed in flames to rescue a small girl. The interviewer asked him how he remains fearless. He clarified that he’s always afraid but the joy of the rescue keeps him coming back.

Evangelism can be hard, long, and risky but as God’s beloved children the Father commands us to tell his estranged kids that He’s a good dad and will welcome them with open arms. We get to take them by the hand and bring them home. That’s what evangelism is. And it’s worth it!
