The Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG) has called on the government to consider its members when it comes to the payment of the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in the wake of the current economic hardship. This comes after four teacher unions on Monday, July 4, 2022, declared an indefinite nationwide strike over demands for the payment of COLA.

Seven communities with a population of over 2000 under Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region called on Electoral Commission and Government to break away and join Krachi East Municipality. Adakope and it's environs is predominantly fishing communities surrendered by River Oti. They are demanding to be recognized as Krachi East. The people in the geographical area are made up of Okuma, Adakope,Debume, Bator-kope,Koka-kope,Yaw Gyengyen-Akura and Kojo-Akura.

The government has allayed the fears of Ghanaians claiming government’s key social interventions like free Senior High School (SHS) will be scrapped as it seeks help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah has however maintained that key interventions under the Akufo-Addo government will not be affected.

A leading member of Arise-Ghana, a newly formed nationalist group, Bernard Mornah, says the spirit of its members cannot be dampened by the brute force used on them by the police in their demonstration on Tuesday. He said the group will continue to demand accountability, good governance and transparency from the government, all aimed at improving the living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian.

After a peaceful march from the El-Wak Sports Stadium to the ministries area, the Arise Ghana protestors presented a petition to the Finance Ministry and Parliament demanding action to address the cost of living crisis and unpopular government policies.

Some police officers have been injured on the grounds of the demonstration at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle as Arise Ghana protestors and officials from the police service clash. For about 15 minutes, there was teargas being fired into the crowd by police personnel after some elements in the crowd decided to push against the police who had built a barricade to stop protestors from moving from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle towards the Ringroad Central area.

A pressure group, Arise Ghana, has filed a suit at the Court of Appeal to set aside a ruling by the High Court on their intended demonstration. The Accra High Court on Monday ruled that the protest by Arise Ghana on June 28 and 29 could only be staged between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.

Passengers on board a sprinter bus have sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident at Juaso- Atwedie on the Accra-Kumasi Highway. Reports indicate the vehicle with registration number AS -650-21 was travelling from Accra to Kumasi.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has passed 47 aspirants to contest for various positions in its upcoming national executive elections. This was in a memorandum issued on Thursday, June 23, signed by its Secretary to the National Elections Committee, Evans Nimako.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has tasked the Finance and Health committees of the house to expeditiously probe the utilisation of COVID-19 funds. It follows what he feels are discrepancies in the receipt and payment of COVID-19 monies as accounted for by the Finance Minister before the house on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
