The People’s National Convention (PNC) is advocating for death penalty for suspects found guilty of ritual murder. This move, it explained, is to serve as a warning to others seeking to commit similar crime.

Police on Friday fired tear gas to disperse some level 400 students of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) who were on a protest. The students were demonstrating over differences in their results with about three weeks to graduation.

The two men arrested in connection with the murder of a lady at Mankessim in the Central Region have admitted to the police they murdered her for money rituals. Christopher Ekow Clark Quansah a.k.a. Nana Clark, Tufuhen of Ekumfi Akwakrom and a self-styled pastor, Michael Darko, were yesterday arraigned at a Cape Coast district court on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested Nana Clark Onyaa for his alleged involvement in the murder and secret burial of a 22-year-old aspiring trainee nurse at Mankessim. Nana Clark, who is the Tufuhen of Ekumfi Akwakrom, reportedly aided a pastor who is also currently in police custody to commit the gruesome murder.

Two persons have been confirmed dead in illegal mining activity at Sefwi Yaw Brefo in the Juaboso district of the western north region. The deceased, Kelvin Abugiri, 22, and Dramani, 21, were reported dead by the medics at the Juaboso Government Hospital mortuary.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has revealed that about 23 suspected impersonators have been arrested by its monitoring team in the ongoing 2022 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Updating the media on the success of the ongoing 2022 WASSEC at the headquarters of WACE in Accra, Head Public Affairs at WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe indicated that, “As mentioned in our earlier update, impersonation cases are on the increase in this year’s WASSCE (SC).This is a worrying phenomenon because this is a school examination and school authorities should be able to identify their candidates.”

The founder and leader of the United Progessive Party (UPP) has alleged that Ghana is not making any progress in the fight against illegal small-scale mining ('galamsey') because persons who are supposed to stop it are benefiting from it. Akwasi Addai Odike accused officials, including personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, who are deployed to help stop the menace of taking monies from illegal miners to turn a blind eye to their activities.
