The University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG) has resolved to suspend its industrial action temporarily. This followed an emergency meeting by UTAG’s National Executive Committee on Monday to evaluate their ongoing strike.

A 45-year-old man, Kojo Essel, has been apprehended by the residents of Ekumfi Gyankoma for allegedly exhuming a Queen mother’s corpse.

Mr Essel was nabbed after breaking into the graveyard with the purpose of stealing beads and other adornments the deceased leader was buried with.

Four members of Parliament (MPs) belonging to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have tabled a motion for Parliament to establish a bipartisan committee probe into the death of former President John Evans Atta Mills. The Madina Member of Parliament (MP), Francis-Xavier Sosu, says he is not scared to exit the legal profession for cautioning against acts that have the potential to erode the country’s democracy and judicial system. Responding to a statement by the Association of Judges and Magistrates (AMJG) over his Partisan Judges comment, Mr Sosu said he is ready to put his career on the line and expressed worry over the posturing of the Association.

A chamber and hall flat of a fire service officer was last night set on fire by some unknown young men in the Lamashegu community, a suburb of Tamale. According to the caretaker of the house, the young men were aiming at a police officer who is also a tenant in the house.
