Andrew Conn is president of Anthem subsidiary National Government Services (and was also named President of Anthem’s Federal Government Solutions group in September). Early on in his leadership, he laid out a clear and bold vision for the future of the organization – specifically, how the company would come to define the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) of the future, transform its Digital Health component and focus on organizational culture and talent alignment to facilitate real change. Vid Desai is a seasoned technology leader with more than 30 years of experience in the information technology (IT) field, and healthcare and life sciences industries. He has previous experience working for large pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and clinical research organizations (CRO).

As the FDA’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the newly-established Office of Digital Transformation (ODT), Mr. Desai sets and leads the agency’s IT strategy, as well as the agency’s enterprise IT, data management, and cybersecurity. The ODT team oversees the overall FDA IT spend of more than $750M and a staff of around 2,500 employees and contractors. Prior to being named CIO, Mr. Desai served as the FDA’s Chief Technology Officer, overseeing day-to-day technology operations as the leader of the Office of Information Management and Information Technology.

The FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines and foods more effective, safer, and more affordable; and helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to improve their health.

This podcast will focus on the HealthSuite Digital Platform (HSDP) and its critical role in federal health IT, and how it solves for challenges that the industry faces. Dave Davidson of Philips will discuss the platform, as well as provide a forward-looking view of the health IT industry.


Dave Davidson started his career at Philips in 2005 as the Technical & Clinical Sales Manager for the enterprise imaging informatics business group. Since taking over as Chairman of the Board of Veterans’ Appeals Cheryl L. Mason was tasked with addressing the impact of Covid on the future of hearings.  Taking steps to fast track virtual hearings Mason has taken strides to be sure the inability to meet in person hasn’t stopped the Board’s mission.  

Cheryl L. Mason serves as the Chairman of the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board). She is the first woman to hold his position. The Board’s mission is conducting hearings and deciding appeals on benefits and services for Veterans and their families.

Ms. Mason leads a team of approximately 1200 personnel including Veterans Law Judges, attorneys, and operations and administrative professionals. She is accountable for the management of Board resources and executing a budget of over $190 million. 

The Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board) is an agency within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Its mission is to conduct hearings and issue timely decisions for Veterans, their families and caregivers.  The Board is responsible for making final decisions on behalf of the Secretary regarding appeals for Veterans’ benefits and services from all three administrations - Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and National Cemetery Administration (NCA) as well as the Office of General Counsel (OGC) that are presented to the Board for appellate review.
