  • Bitch Craft: Big Concepts in Fiction
The biggest stumbling block in world building is weaving a concept into the timeline. Often, the biggest mistake a writer makes is accepting the real timeline for our world. They try to inject their concepts into an unchanged timeline and history is unforgiving.Of course, creating an alternate timeline can be a daunting prospect and it can also be an uncomfortable intellectually to essentially erase events even in a work of fiction. But if you really want to serve your concept, you must assess the timeline of the world your building and deal with the consequences of historical events in how they impact your goals your story.  Chatroom on my site: http://keiramarcos.com/chat-room/

  • Bitch Craft: Foreshadowing in Fiction
"Foreshadowing is a literary device by which an author hints what is to come. Foreshadowing is a dramatic device in which an important plot-point is mentioned early in the story, and will later return in a more significant way. It is used to avoid disappointment. It is also sometimes used to arouse the reader." - From WikipediaTonight I'm going to talk about foreshadowing in my work in general and specifically if the people in the chatroom bring anything up. Foreshadowing is a writer's tool most often deployed to increase suspense and to give readers clues regarding future events. Sometimes it can be subtle but often when you read a work a second time the author has given you very obvious clues regarding future events in their work. This isn't something I can "pants" so if I pants (instead of plot) something I have to go back in the second draft and weave foreshadowing in. REMEMBERCHATROOM ON MY SITE: http://keiramarcos.com/chat-room/

Tonight Jilly & I, will be plotting during the podcast. Participation in the chatroom is welcome BUT don't be an asshole so if the Drifter says no to your idea -- do not keep harping on it.What does "plot drift" mean? It means I give myself or a guest a prompt and they plot on the fly without any prep. This will open up their thought process and allow you to learn how to explore and build a plot yourself in a very organic way.You do not have permission to use this plot for your own writing. • Bitch Craft: Writing the Bad Guy
Listen to my first pod cast on this topic: Short & Junk: Villains in FictionKiki asks: What do think are the characteristics of a good villain? Who are some of your favorite villains among your own work and others? Who have been the most fun villains to write? Have you created any villains that you really didn’t enjoy writing and regretted because they were emotionally challenging? You have a lot of very satisfying scenes with the bad guys getting what’s coming to them- do you have any particular favorites? Or are there those that people comment on more than others?CHATROOM ON MY SITE: http://keiramarcos.com/chat-room/
